It was a humid summer evening at the L/n household. The sun was beginning to set, and tonight was a special night. As Caleb L/n and Aurora L/n's youngest and only daughter Y/n was to celebrate her 11th birthday tonight. Aurora smiled softly as her husband ranted on and on about his colleagues at the Ministry of Magic, one name being said more than others.

"Darling, I know how Lucius Malfoy gets on your nerves but let's simply forget about him. You know what tonight is and we should be excited!"

She hums, placing down plates of meat, vegetables and mashed potatoes.

"I can't help it Aurora, the man doesn't even work there but yet he must have a bloody opinion on everything! I swear, I can't wait for him to choke on his money" Caleb responded waving his wand to help set up cups and napkins on the table.

" Oh hush now, I don't want Y/n hearing such things." Aurora scolds now, noticing that their little girl wasn't around.

"Speaking of our daughter, where is she?"

"I assume she's still outside with that broomstick you got her. She's been enjoying the day in the sky with it. It took her a few tries to get the hang of it but she's a born flyer Caleb." Aurora states nudging her head out in the backyard.

Caleb brightly smiled hearing his wife's words. Placing a kiss on his wife's cheek, he moves to go out in the backyard. The sky was beginning to turn into a spectrum of oranges and pinks as the sun. He looks around up in the sky and in his backyard but doesn't see his child anywhere. Until a fast breeze blows right in front of him going to the left of him, Caleb blinks his short golden brown hair now fizzled a bit. He laughs and notices Y/n zooming in the sky on her broom. Aurora, who was now beside her husband, fixing his hair before calling out to their daughter.

" Y/n dear! It's time for dinner!!" She snickered with amusement.

" Coming mum!" Hearing her mother's voice, Y/n took a moment to stop mid-air before lowering her broomstick down to ground level. Once she dismounts from her broom, she laughs and squeals as her father tickles her sides.

"Look at you! You will be the best quidditch player yet!" Caleb beams as his daughter moves away to go stand by her mother. He smiles, taking a moment to admire them both.

"I don't know about that dad but I do know I love flying in the air." Y/n responses before rushing inside to sit at the dinner table. Aurora winks at Caleb who shakes his head with a smile as they both head inside to join their daughter for dinner.

During dinner, Caleb once again couldn't help but once again go into work matters. Once the topic was on the Malfoys again, Aurora just sighed and let her husband rant on as Y/n silently listened as well. She knew who the Malfoy family were only because of her father, she had never actually met them in person. She wasn't sure if she wanted to, according to what her father would describe. They sounded snobbish and selfish and too rich for their own good. Curious though, she decided to ask her father a question.

"What do they look like? The Malfoy family?"

Caleb looked over at Y/n finishing what was left in his mouth before speaking.

"You'll never miss them, believe me they all look alike. They all have platinum bright blonde hair, Lucius has long hair and his wife also has long hair. I haven't seen their son in awhile so I'm afraid he probably is growing to look like his father. Such a shame."

"What's their son's name? Do you know?"

"I believe it was after a constellation..i think his name is Draco."

After dinner Y/n spent the next half an hour in the kitchen with her mother doing up the dishes. Afterwards she walked into the hallway, before she could take another step forward. A letter suddenly flew out of the mail slot into her chest. Y/n took a look at the letter seeing it was addressed to her. It had her address, the bedroom she slept in and her name all in a beautiful green writing. Rushing to her parents excitedly, she hands the letter to her father.

Caleb before he even holds the letter in his grasp, he knows what it is as well as Aurora.

"Why don't you open it Y/n? It is addressed to you"

Y/n smiled quickly, opening the envelope and reading out loud the paper before her.

"Dear Ms. Y/n L/n

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1st. We await your owl by no later than July 31st.

Yours Sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall.

Deputy Headmaster. "

Both of Y/n's parents cheered as they hugged their daughter who just blinked a bit confused. Right away they explained to her about Hogwarts and how she was going to go learn magic and become a talented witch. As bedtime rolled around, Y/n laid in bed rubbing her eyes exhausted but yet excited that she was going to be going to Hogwarts. She smiled hoping to make her father proud, she knew that her father went to Hogwarts but she never knew where her mother went. She never really spoke about it and Y/n never really thought to ask since she figured that her mother had also attended there. As Y/n let out her final yawn for the night, she began to dream of what adventures lie in store for her.

Over at the Malfoy Manor, Draco Malfoy slept upstairs in his king sized bedroom that was almost too big for him on his own. While downstairs in the main living area of the Manor, his parents were fighting about his schooling.

" Draco will not be going to Drumstrang! He's going to Hogwarts!" Narcissa Malfoy spoke sternly towards her husband.

"I refuse to accept that. Hogwarts is not nearly educated enough on the Dark Arts like Drumstrang is! He should go somewhere he can uphold the Malfoy name!" Lucius responded back with a wave of his hand bored.

"But he'll be so far away from home! I'm not having it this time Lucius! I let you get away with a few things but not this. I want our son near us. Draco will be going to Hogwarts where he can be closer to home!" Narcissa finished going to seat herself on the couch with a glass of the most expensive wine money could buy.

Lucius stared at his wife with a hard glare before responding with a stern voice. "Fine. He'll go to Hogwarts if that's what you want." Then he headed off to bed with his wife staying behind to finish her drink.

The next morning was when the letter for Mr. Draco Malfoy for Hogwarts School was discovered.
