Her caramel eyes flutter open, sitting up on her small twin mattress. She stretches her arms, hearing the satisfying noise of her back cracking. She takes in her surroundings. Being the broke college student she is, she has only a small, white desk she had gotten from ikea, a circular mirror, and her drawers full of whatever cheap clothing and crap she'd gotten. She walks out to her tiny kitchen, which, she actually takes pride in. A small red kettle, which she describes as the only necessity, if you ask.

Actually, it doesn't exactly matter whether you ask or not.

She has a small red toaster that, you guessed it, is red. Clearly her favorite color is red, unless you're too dumb to not assume that yourself. She had only recently settled in, and was looking for something to do before orientation began. She made tea and toast (which her diet consisted of) and sat down at her desk. She flipped through her phone, checking instagram and finding a picture of her boyfriend, Kendall, back home. He took a selfie with their mutual friend, Prince. They were drinking soda in a convenience store in Japan.

"Huh, I had no clue Prince was interested in going to Japan too." She mumbled into her mug.

She clicked his profile to check up on him, when her eyes widened abruptly. All of his pictures of them together were gone. "What the fuck?" She yelled. If she wasn't in the mood for orientation prior to her horrific discovery, she definitely wasn't in the mood now. She stood up, stood still for a couple seconds, then put her dishes in the sink. She went into her room. "I don't have any fucking time for this. Move on." she told herself, looking at her reflection in the mirror. She flashed a weak smile and put on her "grwm playlist". She started singing to try and forget what had just happened, dancing around her room for a couple seconds before going to pick her outfit. She decided on a long, knitted, tan cardigan, along with a black top and light-washed jeans. She styled her long, chocolate hair into a blowout style. She did a peach-based makeup look and slipped on her black, leather chelsea boots. She now had only one hour until orientation. She put her iphone and wallet into her white canvas bag, and made her way to the metro. She lived in a small apartment near Euljiro 3-ga station in Seoul, which was just outside the station.

Once arriving at the university, she made her best effort to appear approachable. She saw many groups of girls conversing and greeting each other, which she won't lie, had her discouraged. When suddenly, a small girl with a flannel over her white top, and black pleated skirt, neared her.

"Hello, my name is Kang Bo-ra." She smiled at her, her eyes cutely bending into half moons.

"A-ah, my name is Soo-jin! Na Soo-jin." She replied.

"Soo-jin eonni, did you live in the states?"

Shit. She thought maybe her pronunciation was bad. She stared in embarrassment for a second and replied with,

"Yeah, is my pronunciation off?" She let out a stifled laugh hoping to play it off.

"No it's just your gestures are different." She let out a laugh as well, trying to show that she acknowledged the tense atmosphere. "We should grab coffee before the orientation begins! there's a vending machine inside, let's head in." She grabbed Soo-jin's hand pulling her into the building. Each coffee was ₩1,500 so she watched as Bo-ra bought two and handed one to her eonni. Because of the huge culture shock, Soo-jin was burdened with the thought of another person she had 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘵, buying her anything at all.

"Thank you, Bo-ra ssi," Soo-jin did a quick bowing motion and took the coffee.

"It's starting!" Bo-ra replied and walked out, gesturing her new friend to follow.

"Welcome freshman! I am your senior, Kim Seung-won." His voice was booming but not deep per say. He was handsome if she was being honest. "I hope we can all get along this year!"

      Everyone cheered at this.

"First we will head out to the back of the school for club sign up. Each club will have a stand set up. I hope some of you will join me in photography club." He smiled. "We can go grab drinks afterwards."

And you guessed it. Everyone went 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 at the mention of drinks. I mean, maybe that was a bit of an exaggateration. Anyways, both girls, hand in hand became very close that day. Another girl by the name of Ra Kang-hee, came up to them. She donned a fluffy, yellow sweater and flowy white skirt. Her wavy, red-brown hair fell perfectly below her shoulders. She was what most would describe as a "natural beauty". She held out her dainty hand.

"Ra Kang-hee," Her sweet voice said. Bo-ra looked skeptical.

"I'm Na Soo-jin. This is Kang Bo-ra." Soojin blinked, not knowing what to say next.

"We should be friends. Soo-jin ssi, you're also in the performing arts department, right?"

        "Mhm, right."

"Let's work hard. Fighting!" She shook her fists to show encouragement. All of the guys nearby immediately gave Kang-hee all of their attention. However, when they saw Soo-jin:

"Waaaah, the two most beautiful freshman. They look like they're in a drama." A guy said to the rest of his group. Bo-ra's face turned red with anger at the fact that she knew she wasn't one of the two. Soo-jin looked at the floor and blushed. Kang-hee appeared unfazed. Soo-jin figured that a girl that beautiful must be used to remarks like that. Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden notification which she identified as instagram. She pulled her phone out of her bag and her hand shook a little bit.

She quickly clicked on the notification, unlocking her phone in a swift movement. 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥. Oh my god. He had found someone new to fuck with. A picture of him kissing another girl on the cheek appeared on her screen. She had shoulder length, golden blonde hair. The caption? Love in Japan. She had beautiful blue eyes. She couldn't blame him. Bo-ra inched closer to her. Eyes filled with worry. Soo-jin went to her last messaged contacts and called him.

"Excuse me," She mumbled and walked away.

"Yah! Na Soo-jin!" Bo-ra followed closely behind. They walked into the bathroom at a relatively fast pace. He picked up not long after. She could hear him on the other line but there was a long silence.

        "Hello?" He asked.

"H-hey, how is everything in Japan? I'm sure you must be having fun with your new girlfriend." She shot at him.

"Listen, Soo-jin. We weren't stable to begin with. You should've expected this."

"Expected this?! You promised me you would-" Her voice cracked. She heard a feminine voice on the other line.

"Babe, who are you talking to?" It said.

"Oh, just a spam call." He replied, hanging up.

"YAH!" She shrieked. She was a sobbing mess. Her eyes were burning. She couldn't tell whether it was because of the products running into her eyes, her contacts, or her tears. She crouched down. Bo-ra sat down beside her, pulling Soo-jin into a hug where she could rest her head on her shoulder.

"That dumbass isn't worth your tears. You know you're worth more than that." She comforted her.

Hearing another ding from her phone, she entered her passcode.

Kendall: It's over, Na Soo-jin.

Now here's where our story really begins. But you don't have to hear it from me. Soo-jin can tell it herself.
