Chapter Nine | The Tunnels

Start from the beginning

"Oh, no. Guys." Steve groaned. "Hey, where do you think you're going? What are you, deaf? Hello? We are not going down there right now. I made myself clear. "Hey, there's not chance we're going to that hole, okay? This ends, right now!"

"Steve!" Dustin cried out. "You're upset, I get it. But the bottom line is, a part member requires assistants and it is our duty to provide the assistance. Now, I know you promised Nance that you would keep us safe. So, keep us safe."

Dustin brought out his bat. One by one, we all entered the hole, geared up. We had goggles and bandannas around our mouths and eyes.

It was dark and there was shit floating around.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the way," Mike tells us from his map.

"You're pretty sure, or you're certain?" Dustin remarked.

"I'm 100% sure." Mike said. "Just follow me and you'll know."

"Woah, woah, woah, hey, hey, hey." Steve cuts Mike off. "I don't think so."

"What?"

"Any of you little shit die down here, I'm getting the blame." Steve said. "Got it, dipsihts? From here on out, I'm leading the way. Come on, lets go."

We all then followed Steve, in silence.

-

I have no idea how long we have been travelling in these tunnels for, but all I can say, is that it's really creepy and that I want to get out of here.

Steve had continued to lead the way, Max and I stuck together like glue, gripping onto each others' hands for somewhat comfort.

"God." Lucas groaned as we approached some more tunnels that lead off to different directions.

"What is this place?" Max questioned, she looked around with her eyes.

"Guys, come on." Steve hurried us. "Keep moving."

"Shit!" I heard a cry from the back and I turned around, letting go of Max's hand. "Help! Help! Help!" That sounded like Dustin, we all backtracked and saw Dustin crying out on the floor.

"Dustin!" Mike cried out. Dustin continued to scream out 'shit' and Steve pushed in front of us, trying to see what's wrong with him.

"What happened?" Steve demanded worriedly.

"It's in my mouth!" Dustin whimpered. "Some got in my mouth! Shit!" He begins to cough and I honestly don't know what to do. He looked up at us once he was done coughing. "I'm okay."

"You serious?" Max grumbled.

"Very funny, man." Steve muttered sarcastically. "Nice. Very nice."

"Jesus, what an idiot."

We all then continued to venture forward. I had to force myself to keep moving. We're doing this for Will, that was my motivation.

"All right, Wheeler." Steve suddenly said. "I think we found your hub."

I think we did, too, considering it was a big room and there was a big stump in the middle of it.

"Let's drench it."

And so we did. We begin to put gasoline all around the empty room. After we'd done, we all crouched down at the entrance we came from.

"All right, you guys ready?" Steve asked us.

"Yeah," and "ready," were said around the group but I didn't say anything.

"Light her up." Dustin agreed and Steve got out the lighter.
