It was a cold November morning. I stepped out of my bed and hurried to get dressed before I started shivering. The conversation from last night played over and over again in my mind. Why would he break up with me? What did I do wrong? I kept thinking about this as I made my breakfast, tears brimming in my eyes. I swung my backpack over my shoulder as I went to walk out of the door when the phone started ringing. It took a few seconds to notice it because I was so absorbed in my own world but I walked over and answered it. It was my friend Mary. Doubtless she wanted to tell me everything that her and her boyfriend had been up to over their weekend away. Suppressing a sigh I listen to everything she had to say. Then I realised that they've been dating for about 3 months now and I still don't even know the name of her boyfriend. Then her shouts break me out of my daydream again.
"Sorry Mary. I've just had some things on my mind lately. What were you saying?" I respond sheepishly, hoping to smooth things over.
"Why what's happened? Do you want to meet up in 10 minutes and talk about it?" She says to me. I think over her suggestion in my head until I put the phone back to my ear and say,
"Sure. Meet you in the coffee shop."
I put the phone down and head out of the door. I wipe my tears away, even though I'll probably be doing the same thing again in 20 minutes.
I get there a few minutes early but I don't really feel like ordering anything so I just sit at a corner table and wait for her. Soon enough she walks through the door and runs straight for me, concern showing on every inch of my face. I guess I didn't wipe my tears away that well after all.
She sits down across from me and grabs my hand and looks me straight in the eye when she asks "what's happened?"
I can barely look at her let alone speak, so I just shake my head and show her the text messages on my phone from last night. She scrolls through them in shock until she hands me my phone back. Putting my head in my hands, I start sob quietly again as she watches.
Until she says, "He was a dick to you. Stop crying over him. He clearly didn't care. You need to suck it up and look absolutely stunning for tonight."
I look up in shock and she laughs at my expression.
"You're coming out to meet my boyfriend and his friends. Who knows maybe you'll get on with one of them. But not Fred, he's mine."
I try to tell her that I'm not ready and that all boys are immature and just want to use you, when she punches my arm.
I turn and face her and yell "WHY TF DID YOU JUST PUNCH ME???"
She just laughs and says, "oh Charlotte, stop making a huge fuss. They're a band and I'm sure that a certain someone will catch your eye tonight." She laughs again.
I get up from the table and say "Fine pick me up at 7:30 but I am NOT getting another boyfriend ever." And I leave her laughing to herself at my outrage.

It was 20 past 7 as I stood looking in despair at my clothing options. I didn't realise before but I never even asked where we were going. I groan as I realise how stupid I was probably going to look as I grabbed a printed black top and a pair of fancy jeans which were just regular jeans that I never wore. I scrape my hair back into a low ponytail as I hear a car horn outside my window. Swearing under my breath I run down the stairs 2 at a time and slam the door shut, forgetting to lock it in the process.
She greets me and I just huff and say "Step on it". She does and soon we're speeding down the road until we reach our destination, a fairly big house. My jaw drops as I look at the sheer size of it before Mary drags me inside.
There was a full bar with bartenders and a pool table and countless other tables that people were getting drunk and high at. But as Mary carried on dragging me to the bar area, my eyes fall on a group of 4 men. They looked like they were in there 20s. There was a tall one with crazy hair. A short one with long blonde hair. A kinda tall one with ginger hair, and someone who I assumed was Mary's boyfriend because as soon as she saw him, she dropped my arm and ran over to him, enveloping him in a hug and kissing his cheek.
The other 3 men laughed and started teasing the other bloke who had very tanned skin with Long black hair and wolf whistling at them both. It he turned around and ignored them as he greeted his girlfriend just as passionately as she greeted him. It was a few minutes before Mary remembered that I was there and, rather ashamed that she'd forgotten me started introducing me to her friends.
Brian, Roger, John and her Boyfriend Freddie.
