"I'm aware of that. But those are papers."
"You did my job for me believing I was incapable of doing it myself. Why?"
"I'm sorry to say this but, I wasn't convinced you wouldn't  do a good job." I was already nervous and he was making me more nervous with his use of words.
"The longer I listen to you the more you annoy me."
"Mrs Segun I understand that to mean I should give more consideration to your marital status and address you with more respect, right?"
"Now you understand why I can't have a decent conversation with you."
"Remember I still have your medical report."
"For all I care you can keep it."
"Fine, I will. But let me give one last advice."
"And should I listen and even consider taking it?"
"Do what you want with it. But see that you get enough rest and you don't get too agitated." He cut the call before I even had the chance to say anything else. When I put the phone down Nancy shouted my name.

"Tola?!"
"Wetin?"
"No wonder this man lock you for hospital."
"Abeg, Nancy forget."

Nancy put her hands to her jaw and stared at me. I blinked when I noticed the intensity of the stare. It was something I hadn't seen in her for a long time. I knew she was quite disturbed by my behavior.

"Tola, tell me this is about Ola?" I looked away, "Because addressing the doctor I feel you are telling him things you cannot tell Ola." She was right. I was bitter hearing my father tell me Ola made frequent business trips.

"Nancy it is  quite shameful hearing from my father that Ola makes frequent business trips."

"But you know him too well."
"Nancy all I know is I am the last person to ever know anything about him. Why?"

"Is that why you are taking it out on the doctor?"
"Nancy when I was at the hospital I asked the idiot of a doctor to make one simple phone call to my father and tell him what happened. He refused. Look," I said holding the report up.

"This is a report I have to submit. Tell me, does it make sense submitting a report I never wrote myself?"

"Tola you don't have to be harsh on him. At least your trip to Abuja wasn't a waste."

"I have to face my father, Nancy. And you know what? He's going to ask questions and I'm not sure how to answer those questions."

"Tola, first submit the report."
"And what am I going to tell him, that I am incapable of doing my job?" I shook my head in disagreement. "Already I'm at loggerheads with my mother and now my father too?"

" Ha Tola what are you talking about?"
"You remember you told me to keep the house?" Nancy nodded.

"When I told my parents I had nothing more to do with Ola, my mother took it so seriously. She told me,

'as old as you are will I be the one to still be feeding you when you are the one to feed me and your father?'

"Tola you mean your mother told you that?" I nodded.

"Nancy I am not sure what to expect from my dad by submitting this report." Nancy looked at me thoughtfully. I knew with her I could get some ideas on how to face my father.

"Tola, I suggest you do one thing." I got excited about hearing what she had to say.

"Submit the report and should it get to a point where he finds out you didn't write it. Then perhaps...," She paused.
"What?"
"Tell him you have a brother." I rolled my eyes hearing Nancy say this. I could do without a brother like Dr. Abiodun.

"You mean I should tell my father that that criminal wrote this for me? Abeg o." Nancy couldn't help but laugh.

"Ola, abeg come o. Your baby dey miss you o." She brought out her phone and was dialing his number.
"Nancy abeg o no call this criminal o."

"See, as you never see am your body dey pepper you." Nancy went ahead and called him. He answered the call.

"Bad boy where you dey wey your baby dey get am hot with everybody?" In that moment she put the phone on high voice so I could here.

"You mean smooth criminal?" Nancy laughed.
"I blame you Ola. Me and you na who criminal pass?" I asked.

"Ha so Nancy you dey with my baby naim you no tell me."
"We dey house dey shak. Abi you go join us still feel your baby small?"

"I dey busy. Plenty work dey but make we see for evening time.
My complicated baby make we see for evening now, me you and Nancy?"

"Ola shebi I dey complicated?"
"Abeg come out with Nancy make we go enjoy."

"Okay now Ola we go dey see." Nancy ended the call and looked at me.

"Nancy it wasn't necessary to do that."
"Abeg, Tola no make me vex. You hear him voice your face don dey shine again." I shook my head and sighed.

"Nancy you and Dr. Abiodun I know no who send ona come meet me for this life. Ona go fit each other sha."

"Tola wetin you dey talk for mouth, so?"

"No I mean you could get along quite well with each other." Nancy laughed. Then an idea came to me. I picked up my phone and dialed Dr. Abiodun's number.

"Tola who are you calling?" The phone was ringing. Soon he answered the call.

"Mrs. Segun I thought I was your worst enemy?"
"Yes you are, but I still decided to call you."
"Thanks for letting me know..,"
"As a matter of fact I reported your misconduct to the Police."

"So what do I do now, take the next flight out of the country?"

"I think it can be settled without you going to hibernate abroad. You still need to breath fresh air don't you?"

"As long as there is still an abundance of fresh air."
"Good."
"So should I be worried?" He asked
"It's why I said it can be settled."
"So what's the deal you are putting on the table?"

"Talk to my police friend, she knows a thing or two about deals." I passed the phone to Nancy who was reluctant to take it at first. But when she took it and they started talking, I couldn't stop them.
