"Good! I'm tired of your no good ass anyways. Go find one of those useless hoes you cheat on me with and live with them. I'm done."

The regular. My dad and stepmom, Trina, arguing just like any other night. It's really the new normal. I peeped behind my bedroom door while the two went back and forth.

"Malik?"

He was approaching my room. I ran and jumped back in the bed, pretending to be sleep.

"Malik? Malik?" My dad called out while shaking me.
"Get your things, we're about to leave." he said while getting my bookbag.

"I didn't tell him to leave motherfucker, I told you. He's not the one sleeping with every single hoe in town." Trina said while pushing him in the back.

I was up getting my clothes like my dad told me.

"Keep your fucking hands off me. You told me to leave, that means him too." He responded.

"And where are you going to take him? Huh? Where Maurice?"

"Don't worry about that. He's going to be straight." my dad said.

I finished packing my stuff, put on my shoes and followed my dad. My stepsister, Liyah, was sitting on the couch crying.

She always cries when they argue.

I waved at her and headed out the door. My dad popped the trunk of his 1980 Chevy Caprice and I put my bags in.

"Where we gonna go?" I asked him.
"Don't worry about that."
"Am I going to get to go to school tommorow?"

He looked at for a few seconds.
"Look at me." He said with a serious look.

I looked at him kind of scared.

"I'm your dad. I'm going to protect you no matter what. So if we have to sleep in a lion's den, don't worry because I'm going to protect you. Ok? Now stop asking so many questions and ride." He said.

He closed the trunk and we got in the car. He crunk it up and sped out of Trina's yard.
