Sally

Prologue

A little girl is laying on her bed, her tiny body is brimming at the edges with blood. She cries and sobs, but no one comes to comfort her. She looks up and starts to speak with a small fragile voice “Why is my mommy acting like she can’t see me ? Everyone is ignoring me, did I do something wrong ? It’s so cold, I want my mommy.”

Chapter 1

It’s a beautiful morning, the sun is coming up showing the colors of orange, pink, peach, and red. Sally wakes up, and runs to her parents room to find that there is a yummy smell coming from the kitchen. “Sally, come and eat your breakfast before it gets cold.” Sally runs into the kitchen and finds her favorite meal sitting on the table. A pancake with strawberry frosting, and rainbow sprinkles. “Wow, thank you mommy, I’m so happy.” “Well I just had to make something special for my little birthday girl, or she would have to come wake me up to remind me again.” They laugh, and Sally’s father walks into the room. “Well isn’t it my two girls having fun without me, why wouldn’t you invite me ?” Sally jumps up out of her chair, and runs into her father’s arms. “Daddy, I will always invite you to have fun with us, I wouldn’t want you to miss out. And you’re invited to my birthday party too.” “What about the sleepover party ? Can I come to that ?” Sally runs back to her seat, and laughs at her father. “Of course not, sleepovers are for girls, boys aren’t aloud.” Sally’s father stands up, and goes over to kiss his wife, and then a knock is heard at the door. “Oh, I thought he wouldn’t be here until lunch, but I guess it’s okay for him to show up early. Sally, your uncle is here.” Sally jumps up and runs to the front door, and welcomes her uncle in with a warm hug. “Uncle Max, I didn’t know you were coming. I guess mommy wanted it to be a surprise.” Max laughs and lifts up Sally into his arms, and carries her back to the kitchen. “Hey, long time no see bro.” Max goes over and shakes John’s hand ( Sally’s father ). “It’s good to see you too.” Max goes over and hugs his sister warmly. “I thought you weren’t going to be here until twelve o'clock ?” Max sits down next to Sally while she finishes her birthday breakfast. “I didn’t want to miss one moment of my nieces birthday, so I thought for a special treat I would show up early.” Sally takes her plate to the sink, and hugs her uncle again. “And I’m happy you did, I really wanted to see you today.” “Me too.”

The day goes on as usual, and then at four o’clock Sally’s birthday party starts. Two of Sally’s best friends bring one present each for her, but the happiest thing she got was having all her favorite people in one place at one time.

Chapter 2

Later that night, everyone from Sally’s birthday party go home, and it’s time for bed. “Hun, could go put Sally to bed while I finish up cleaning the kitchen ?” “No problem sweetie.” John goes to pick up Sally, when Max walks into the room. “Hey no worries, I’ll put her to bed.” “You sure, she’s quite the handful.” “It’s alright, go help Susan with the kitchen.” Max picks up Sally, and takes her to her room. “So Sally, what would you like to wear to bed ?” Max walks over to her dresser, and opens one of her drawers with her pj’s in it. He picks up one with a unicorn, and shakes it in the air. “How about this one ? I know how much you love unicorns.” Sally giggles, and shakes her head no. Max puts back the night gown, and pulls out another one. This one is white with rainbow stars floating all over it. “How about this one ?” Sally smiles, and shakes her head yes. “Well, let me help you put it on then.” Sally starts to take off her clothes, and Max puts the little nightgown on the bed. “Hey Sally, wanna play a game ?” Sally pulls off her pants, and sets them in her laundry basket. “What game uncle Max ?”

The next morning Sally gets up, and goes to the kitchen and tries to pour herself a cup of milk, but instead of pouring the milk into the cup, she gets the milk all over the floor. “Sally ! What are you doing honey !?” Sally puts down the milk carton, and grabs the napkins. “Sorry mommy, I wanted some milk, but I didn’t want to wake you up. I tried to do it myself, but I missed the cup. I’m sorry mommy, I didn’t mean to spill.” Susan helps Sally clean up the rest of the milk from the floor, and then pours a cup for Sally. “It’s fine honey, just next time ask for help, okay ?” Sally sits down at the table with a blank face, and puts her hand over her face. “Okay mommy.” After that, John and Max wake up to find Susan and Sally eating breakfast in the kitchen. Sally smiles until she sees Max walk into the kitchen, and gets up to hug her daddy. “Mommy, Daddy, can I go play with Melanie and Lexi next door ?” Susan and John smile at her, and watch her go change into her pink dress. “Of course honey, be back before dinner okay.” “Okay Mommy,” Sally runs outside, and goes next door to play with her friends.
