In a correctional school, Miya is shown as the queen of the school. With her charming boyfriend, amazing friends and an army of supporters, who would think that she was truly lonely? She didn't. That is until Megan showed up.
Through the torment and...
"Are you really this happy that you're getting a roommate, Miya? This small of a thing is totally not worth you actually tidying your room." Lainey asked, still laying on my bed. I continued vacuuming the floor until I was ready to answer.
"Well... I guess I'm just lonely. A few months without a roommate in a room with two beds gets super boring from time to time. Also, if you think that I'm doing this for my own good then you really don't know me? Miss Davis made me do it." I replied. Swept my hair behind me. Lainey walked behind me and tied my hair into a ponytail as she finally got up and helped me finish the room.
We both fell onto my bed in a tired heap when we finally finished cleaning the room. The books were stacked neatly on the shelves and all of my skin care products, cleaning stuff, school work and other pieces of junk were organised in their respected places. We were just about to start talking again when there was a knock on the door.
She was here.
I mustered up all of my courage and walked towards the door before opening it. There stood a tall, slim figure. Her long brown hair was tied into a ponytail and her hazel eyes shone with a sort of mischief that I couldn't put my finger on. Her skin was pale. She had a multitude of freckles scattered around like stars and a light pink blush on her cheeks. She was stunning.
"Hi!" I said, "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name's Miya and the person behind me is Lainey. She was here helping me get this place tidied up for you." I giggled at my joke, Lainey soon hovering over me to shake the new girl's hand.
"Hi! My name's Megan. It's a pleasure to meet you as well."
She flashed me a grin and moved her suitcases into the room as Lainey and I took both of her rucksack's and school equipment. She dumped them on the floor and opened her bags. One by one, the clothes from her suitcases were hung up in a neat and orderly fashion and her shoes were placed in a rack at the bottom of the wardrobe. She moved to the bathroom. She placed her many face masks and washes in her basket by the sink and her perfumes in the cupboard above. She then placed her toothbrush in the holder.
In a time quicker than we took cleaning the room, it was tidier than how we got it with her all moved in.
Lainey took off and left the two of us alone. Both of us waved goodbye and sat on our respected beds. She got out a book. "What are you reading?" I asked, trying to spark up a conversation between the two of us. She looked at me before putting on a pair of glasses and replying. "Oh. 'The handmaid's tale'. I read it years ago with my mum and thought to take it with me. If you want, you can read it as well." She smiled again.
I nodded as she motioned for me to come onto her bed. I rolled off of my bed and walked towards her, the smell of her sweet perfume filling my nose immediately. She opened the book as we both started reading. She read the words out loud, her voice sounding sugary and sweet. Every word spilling out of her mouth was like a bite of chocolate cake for the ears. After hours of reading, we had finished the first three chapters.
"I'm going to quickly shower if you don't mind. After, we can talk more and kind of get to know each other more. We are roommates after all." She spoke after putting the bookmark in the book and closing it. I nodded and motioned to the shower room. I grabbed my phone and started scrolling through my Twitter feed.
