Prologue

'Mum I promise I'll come and visit, I won't be living too far anyways'

I reply giving my mum a kiss, embracing her in a huge hug.

'Oh I know honey, I'm just going to miss you around the house so much' she sighs squeezing me tightly in return.

I'm leaving for Birmingham as the university I'm attending is in the area and is the only elite music academy around. I've never been more nervous in my life.

'She's going to be with me, she'll be fine' Tristan chimes in, chucking his arm around my shoulder.

'That's what I'm worried about' she collects my last bag and hands it to me. Tristan furrows his brows and crosses his arms

'And what's wrong with being with me?'

'Really Tristan, your asking me this? you jumped off a roof into a pool, you've broken your collarbone by riding a motorcycle full speed off a ramp, you've rammed your car into the side of our house— ' mum lists off getting increasingly more irritated

'Okay okay I think I get the point, thankyouuu' Tristan interrupts rubbing his neck, giving me the 'look' and turning for the car

'What do you do in an emergency?' she quizzes me checking to see if I've been listening to her 3 hour lecture on how to live life.

'Call you' I sigh. I know my mother cares a lot about me but she acts as if I can't handle myself.

'Okay mum, I think she gets it, she doesn't need the third degree' Tristan calls from the the car.

'Make sure she's taken care of tris!' mum shouts to him

'Mum, I'm 18' I whine and chuck my last bag in the boot of the car.

'Tris?' she repeats sternly. 'I will mum, no boys are touching her on my watch' he salutes and chuckles.
