Wings

Chapter 1: Avery

What absolutely no one knows about me is that I can see peoples wings. It may sound weird, but it's normal to me. I've just assumed all of my life that no one else can see what I see and I live a pretty normal life. The only difference I know of between me and normal humans is that I can tell what a person is like just by a small glance at their wings.
I was heading to Haven Knowles the II's science department. He was named after his great-great-Grandfather Haven Knowles the I the savior of our country. At the time as the 17 year old I was it was my first day at my assigned job. I was one of the highest scoring in the class and I was assigned as a researcher, which was a huge honor. Though to be honest I was quite surprised because science was one of my lowest grades in school. Wearing the required light green blouse and pants I made it to the office And sat down until my name was called to go back.
"Avery Maracle" the lady at the desk said. I stood up nervously and headed back to the room that the lady had motioned to.
I was startled by the man that was sitting at the desk, it was Haven Knowles himself. I had figured that it would just be one of his higher ups not him that would be giving me the tour of the facility. Now I felt as if I would be sick to the stomach. He smiled at me and motioned for me to sit down. I sat and smiled back.
"Avery Maracle,"he said, after seeing the surprised look on my face," I'm sure you weren't expecting me to be the one to show you the facilities but after seeing you're scores I just had to meet you" he shook my hand. " Thank you very much sir" I say and shake back.
After he gave me the tour and he dismissed me for the day I headed home. I don't know why but for some reason I couldn't see his wings, just thinking about it give me the chill and I don't know why.
While walking down the street I bump into a young man looking about a year older than me. I go to apologize but then I stop mid sentence and stared when I noticed his wings...
