Camping Trip

It was just another Thursday evening hanging out with my close friends at my house, we all decided to have a sleepover together since we were on summer vacation from college. Everyone was relaxing around the living room watching whatever was on tv when one of my friends suddenly spoke of a thought he had. "Hey guys, I have an idea!" Kevin says. Ben, Liz and Beth lets out small groans after hearing this, knowing when Kevin has an idea, it can't be good. "What is it Kev?" I ask having a small smile due to our other friends reactions. "Err... I was thinking since we have two weeks to do what ever we want, that we could go on an adventure." Kevin says with hope shining in his blue eyes. I can't help but let out a small laugh from the look he has while saying that. "What kind of adventure?" Asks Alex, with curiosity showing on his face. Still skeptical but now curious, the trio listen to what kind of an adventure their friend has in mind. Seeing that he now has everyone's attention, a smile splits across his face as he starts to share his thoughts. "Well, you guys know that forest that's on the outskirts of town? The one called Shadow Woods?" Kevin starts out waiting for replies from his friends. "Isn't that the one everyone warns to never step foot into?" Beth says with a thoughtful look on her face. "Yeah, they say when someone goes in, they never come out..." Liz adds on trailing off with a slightly concerned expression. "What are you getting at Kevin?" Ben asks looking more skeptical than ever. Seeing the looks his friends are giving him, he quickly starts continuing where he left off, "I say lets go camping there, see if there really is a boogeyman in Shadow Woods." He says waving his hands around with an eye roll. No one speaks a word for at least a couple of minutes, the only sound that could be heard is eachother's breathing, as everyone is lost in their own thoughts, trying to decide what they should do. Finally the silence is broken by Kevin, "Well, what do you guys think?" We all look at him before looking at each other, our replies coming one after the other. "Sure, I guess." Beth says kind of excited. "Alright." Liz answers with a smile. "Fine..." Ben says while crossing his arms with a slight pout. "Let's do it." Alex says. They all turn to look at me awaiting my answer, meeting eyes with everyone, and seeing the anxiousness on their faces I finally give my answer, "Okay, but only because I love you guys." I answer smiling a little. Everyone cheered and gave high fives, excited to go on a camping trip to the creepy woods, and prove to everyone in town that all the rumors are fake.

But little did we all know, that this camping trip would change our lives forever.
