It was dark and the walls felt like closing in on me. I was starting to panic as my heartbeats raced. I could feel his eyes and even if I was looking down, I knew he could sense that I was already starting to tear up.
I don't like this.
I wanted to walk away. Or run. Or disappear forever but my legs weren't working. Instead, I sat there, looking at my old pair of Converse.
"I'm sorry," he said, almost like a whisper.
But I didn't want to hear any more apologies right now. I've had enough from him.
"Don't." My voice was hoarse from trying to hold back tears. "Stop saying sorry."
"I don't know what else to say."
It broke me. I could feel my heart breaking into pieces. Then finally, I looked at him. He's beautiful. His long hair was tied in a ponytail and his face masked a thousand different emotions.
"I love you," I muttered. I knew I'd regret saying it, but I didn't care.
"I can't," This time, he was the one who looked away. "I'm getting married."
I could not control my tears any longer.
