we all make stupid decisions when we're young. they don't usually come back to haunt us, but mine do.

when i was 18 years old my biggest fear was growing up to be boring.

i hated the idea of living in a constant routine, where it is expected of us to graduate high school, attend university and pursue a career until the age of 66.

at the same time we're expected to find love, get married and start a family.

the idea of it was overwhelming to me at 18, but now i crave such a simple life.

a life that's not spent on the run, where my daughter would have everything she truly deserves, and her father would still be alive.

just a simple, happy and peaceful life, but this is the life i chose, and it's too late to change my mind now.

sofia and diego diaz.

the siblings who once ran the largest drug cartel in new york, have recently become rivals and are now in competition with each other to be the city's main supply of drugs.

diego knows he hasn't got a chance against his sister on his own, which is why he reached out to my brother and his friends, who are - i don't know if this is the correct term - professional criminals.

he offered them a thousand dollars each to steal a diary from sofia. the diary contains information on her whole organisation and is enough to put her in prison for the rest of her life.

tonight, is the night they steal it.

"if you can't get to the diary, get out" i remind my brother, zack.

"i know what i'm doing" he sighs.

"when are you going to let me help?"

"it's too dangerous"

"i don't care, i want to come on a job"

"my little sister wants to be a badass" he smirks while pulling me into a hug.

"i'm being serious zack!" i push him off me.

"we'll talk about this when i'm home"

"whatever" i roll my eyes at him before going upstairs.

"hey, what's wrong?" noah asks when he sees me.

"nothing."

"talk to me" he sighs, following me into my bedroom.

"i'm sick of talking to you, none of you listen"

"who are you talking about?"

"you, zack and the twins!"

"what did we do?" he laughs.

"noah" i glare at him.

"i'm sorry" he bites his lip, trying to hide his smile, "i know you want to help, but it can get dangerous and i don't want to involve you in that"

"it's not your decision to make"

"noah!" zack yells from downstairs, "let's go!"

"i love you" he kisses my cheek before rushing downstairs.

"whatever" I mutter to myself but he's already left my room.

noah and i have been together for almost a year now. he's been zack's best friend since i was 15, we got together just after i turned 18.
