Waking Up

He awoke on a table, cold and metallic. His blood was spilt all over the place, they must have been running tests to see if he was stable. He wondered where he was. All he knew was that the Earth must have been dead and desolate. Why else would all of these people be in space? Was it a Rapture? Zombies? Sun flares? He didn't know. He looked out of the window he had just realized rested right next to him. The cold stench of death floated around him. Through the window, there was Vanessa with two more of the men, looking at a table in front of her. He heard her muffled voice, "Switching shocks up to eighty." There was a humming, then a buzzing, then pure blue light. He screamed and writhed, the pain being unbearable. He let out shrieks so loud that they must have alerted Vanessa to his conciusness. She flipped a switch, and nothing happened. She screamed at the men, "Go shut it down! Before it kills him!" The men dashed in, the one that was taking point smashed down the metallic door with one mighty kick. The electricity flowed off of Jefferson and to the more alive targets, and they opened fire on the electric faucets. They exploded one by one, and Jefferson could finally relax. Even after the electric had switch to them, he had a steady stream on his heart. How did he survive so long? As Jefferson lay, either steam from the electricity evaporating his cold sweat or smoke from an unseen fire rose off of the table. The men lifted him and he was carried to the room with Vanessa. Jefferson was placed on his feet.

        "How do I look?" said Jefferson.

"Like shit." said Vanessa.

        "Thanks, means a lot." Jefferson looked at her and noticed that her hair was in a different style. Why change it? Even though he was twenty five, he still didn't understand women.
