"Riley, you need to do something."
It was her dad. She didn't even glance his way. "Sweetheart I know you're sad, but you need to eat. The doctor said if you don't start eating they might have to pump nutrients in with an IV."
Not a twitch from Riley. She stayed terribly still, staring blankly. She blinked for a moment, and then sighed. It was the first movement she had done in about a week.
"S-she's.... Not coming back.... Is she?" She stammered, choking on her words. Maya was gone, and she knew it. She just didn't want to believe it.
"We tried to contact her, but no I don't think she is." He sighed "Honey you can't just shut out the world. You have to eat and be active." Her dad took a seat on her bed. "You have visitors though."
Riley sighed "let them in." She nodded slightly, and turned her head towards him. She smiled and said, "Thanks, Daddy."
He almost cried it was the first time she'd smiled in weeks. He left to get her visitors.
