"You will be the new Guardian."

Those words are what lead me to her.

As I ran all I saw was the Orange Brown of my brother and sisters tails. They were racing again and leaving me behind again.

'your the baby, the weakest, the youngest, you must be protected.'

My mother constantly said these words to me and constantly reminded my sister and brother that they were the ones who took responsibility for that matter.

"k...Kim"I manages to gasp my sister's name,"p..please tell Mike ...to s..low down." I said referring to our older brother Mike who was so far off in the distance that he looked of only a falling leaf.

At my request Kim asked for him to slow down but in return he cocked back a snappy remark that made Kim mad and soon she was up with him at full speed. They both made it out of the thick trees before I did and they both were immediately lectured by our mom on the dirt and small twigs twisted into they're fur.

Mother than want quiet and I presumed she was looking for me and soon she began to lecture them on how they should be a better older brother and sister. As I emerged from between two trees I was hit by the faces of my brother and sister which looked like they were mentally strangling me. I sat there awkwardly for a while but than one of the oldest of the raccoon kids ran straight at our mom and announced that the great tree had something to say. We all sat there a little stunned but than mom freaked out grabbed bro and sis than threw them in the near by pond and than she brushed they're fur with her paw. I on the other hand wasn't really dirty so mom just patted the dirt out as bro, sis, dad, her, and I hurried to the great tree to hear what he had to say.

As we were getting close Mike and Kim just had to race and mom just had to say something about not leaving me out of sibling games. So I was racing with them the rest of the way even though I had no idea where I was going.This was the first time I'd been allowed to see the great tree. When Mike and Kim reached one they were granted permission to see the great tree and they were told about how strong and intelligent they would become but when I turned one I was never called. Father and mother never told me why I wasn't call, well not directly, they always talked alone about it saying the cause was that I was a runt and had no future or that I would most likely die before I was old enough. yeah... sounds real happy right.

After a while when I could no longer see Mike and Kim I heard voices. I then ran through a large spiked bush and saw that the whole forest was here. The raccoons, The wolves, The rabbits, and even the tweeting birds along with , cubs, pups, and everything else. As I looked around I found Mike and Kim racing each other on a really old musky tree that had grown mass in almost ever corner. I tried to run up the tree like them but I've never been good at that plus when I went to go climb the tree smiled and looked at me and even spoke.

"You little rascals climbing all over me." The tree said smiling a kind old smile as he bellowed a laugh.

After that everyone got quiet and I who was freaking out was off over next to the bush I had just moments ago emerged from while Mike and Kim were front and center next to the tree.

"Hello." The tree greeted.

"Hello great tree." Everyone greeted back except me who was still next to the bush still processing what I had just heard. I sat in stupidity until I realized that I had just tried to climb the great tree and a gasp leapt from my throat.

Everyone turned toward me and I sheepishly fiddled with my paws and the dirt.

"uh... um hello Mr. Great tree... I'm sorry I tried to climb on to you," I then got quieter, nearly to a faint whisper of the wind," this is the first time I've ever met you..."
