"Hi" you mumbled as you passed him in the hallway"
Hey" he said back quietly
"Hi Billy!" his girlfriend chirped from over his shoulder
4 weeks had passed since he'd broken it off with you
"I don't know what I want"He'd whispered in the soft light of his Camaro dashboard
"And I don't think we should continue"
His words has struck you like a knife blade
Cutting deep as you watched his face drop to his lap
"That's okay, Billy"
You rested your hand on his leg
"Maybe one day you'll figure it out"
You'd replied, stifling the upset
He'd latched onto the next girl he'd met
Hoping she'd fill the void
When she was under him in the bed sheets
He closed his eyes and thought of you
Billy studied you from across the roomRegret washing over him in waves as he watched you move your body to the music
Smiling at strangers
Drinking your beer
He looked back at the girl under his arm

He parked his car at the end of your driveway

The insecurity infected his mind like a virus
And he had pushed you awayAnd now as he looked up at your window, the silhouette of you brushing your hair moving across the blind like a shadow theatre
