A Lover's Lament

First Year Orientation

Here we are the first day. This is the final stretch of school until college. I start looking around to see a lot of people dressed in casual clothing, but one person stood out, a fox dressed in a suit. He looked really nice, he was greeting everyone as they walked in through the school gates. H
e might be part of something monumental to the school. He was walking towards me and the other students, saying hello and normal other greetings. 

The fox came up to me and said "Hello, I don't recognize you are you new here"

I shakily replied with "H-hello yeah, I am new here I'm from the middle school district from up south"

He proceeded to introduce himself "Pardon me, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Tenshi Kitsune, the head of the Student Council, 2nd Year. What is your name?" 

I replied with "U-uh k-Kashi Kokoro, 1st year"

He said "It's nice to meet you, will you come meet me at the first break?"

I replied hastily "Y-yes I w-will" 

He invited me to be friends. I felt so happy to have made my first friend of the year. Especially on the first day.

The bell rang to go to class, we were both still standing by the gates. 

We both exchanged our goodbyes and went to class. My first class was English, not going to lie it was pretty easy, they just passed out the course's outline and then the class was over. One more class until I would see my first friend. My second class was also pretty easy, it was art class, the same thing happened it art too, the course's outline, and then we basically just got out of class.

Now it's about time for break. I was looking for Tenshi in the main quad. I couldn't find him anywhere. Suddenly a bunch of girls in a crowd started giggling and looking at someone, then realize they were surrounding him like a mob. I walk closer and then he sees me. He starts softly pushing by them to get to me. When he got to me the girls started giving me dirty stares. I brushed it off and he started talking

"How are you Kashi?"

"I'm good." I replied, and then I asked him about that crowd

He shifted around a bit, and put his hands behind his head and said "Since I'm the head of the student council I sort of got a fan base over the course of my first year, it's interesting none the less."

I thought about it and then said "If I had a crowd that follows around me like that I'd be so scared." I shuddered while thinking about it some more.

He comforted me and said "Eehhh, you get used to it." he starts whispering, "not going to lie it's sort of annoying at time, you don't get anytime to yourself in school"

I sarcastically replied saying "That sounds like 'fun'." I wonder how he gets by if he is always being stalked and ...

My thoughts were instantly interrupted by a Fox coming up to him and talking about how she wanted to invite him to lunch etc. Suddenly I feel a hand land on my shoulder and pull me over. It was Tenshi.

He suddenly said, "Sorry but I'm going with Kashi here."

I stammered "W-we were?" He gives me a look that gave me the word 'PLEASE'. I refreshed my thoughts and said, "I mean y-yeah we are going" I put a hand around his waist.

The girl suddenly said "Fine, if you want to go with him you can!" suddenly her voice turned soft "B-but if you change your mind I'm always here". It seemed like she was trying to guilt trip him or something, I've definitely seen it before. Not only that it seemed to be working. He was shifting in spot, he looked uncomfortable. Then she walks off. 

I told him"Hey I don't think you need to worry about her, I think she may be trying to manipulate you." 

He replies shakily "A-are you sure? She seemed really upset and I d-don't want her to be upset."

I questioned him "It's up to you, if you really want to go with her you can, but if not we can meet at lunch later"

He re-adjusted himself and said "N-no it's fine I'll go with you at lunch, when I said it I meant it" He smiles at me.

*The bell rings*

"It's time to go to class now" he tells me

"Yeah" I agree

Suddenly he hugs me, and I was really surprised at how strong he was and how softly it was. It was very relaxing. He pulls away, and I realize I was blushing. We say our goodbyes and split our ways. 

The next two classes were history and math, once again easy cause they just passed out our course outline's not only that math was my favorite subject. In a flash it was the end of math class, I felt instantly more excited than usual. Just a few more minutes.
