1. From 1967 to 1973, Tom Selleck served in the U.S Army, specifically the California Army National Guard.

2. The producers of Magnum P.I. forced Selleck to pass on roles such as Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

3. Selleck belonged to the Sigma Chi fraternity and worked as a male model to pay bills.

4. He dropped out of college to pursue an acting career, he soon signed a contract with 20th Century Fox.

5. He was a contestant on "The Dating Game" in 1965 then he appeared in 1967, losing both times. He didn't have his iconic mustache then.
