he then turned my head and looked over at her bedside alarm clock and noticed the rather late time.
Shit, he should have been long gone by now. tim would definitely notice he was gone.
he then quickly started to walk out of her room and into the still-open window. repositioning his goggles, toby started to climb back out.
"Awe, you're leaving already?" he turned his head to see her standing in the hallway behind me.
he nervously laughed, "y-yeah, I do have to get back or else those guys will start looking for me, but I-I'll come back t-to see you soon I p-promise. leave this window unlocked okay?"
"Ok, bye Toby" she said softly, "promise I'll see you again?"
"I promise (name) sleep w-well" toby said as climbed climbed back out of the window and vanished into the night..
for once, toby didn't drag his feet when he walked back to the proxies hideout. even in the dismal rain, his spirits were as high as they have ever been. how could he not be happy? he had just seen his only friend again.
so many emotions coursed through him on that walk back.
he was nervous, happy, excited, and absolutely hellbent on keeping her as safe as possible.
no matter the cost he wouldn't put her in harms way.
he walked back up the green moss-caked cobblestone path to the small abandoned house he, Tim and Brian were temporarily staying in.
toby opened the slowly rotting wooden door that creaked loudly in objection as he pushed it open. 'yeah way to keep things silent' he thought to himself.
he silently up the entry hallway, and into the old, dim living room no lights anywhere in sight, which was indeed a score for him, as he was Hoping to go unnoticed since he wasn't supposed to be out this late without special orders.
However, just as he was about to sneak into his room, he was absolutely 'delighted' to come face to unmasked face with Tim, who was sitting down in a foldout chair, chain smoking, as usual. 'shit' toby thought.
He soon noticed that toby was in the room with him,
"Where exactly have you been?" He huffed, as a puff of smoke erupted from his cigarette and clouded the whole room in thick grey fog.
"Taking t-that girl h-home" toby said bluntly, as he took off his goggles and mouth guard.
"Sure, figures it takes a half hour to return a girl that lives five minutes from us" Tim replied, his usual sarcasm dripping from his words. "we've all been looking for you"
"Oh c-come on Tim, give me a b-break..you w-wouldn't get it anyway" toby huffed back, taking a seat next to him on the old dirty floor, twiddling his bitten thumbs nervously.
Tim looked away from him, seeming like he was done with this conversation and would drop this whole thing, (which toby was rather happy about) however, in a few moments, he asked: "it's her, isn't it?"
"W-what are you t-talking about?" he lied, toby knew exactly. he rambled much too often for his own good.
"It's that girl that you always talk about, the one from preschool. You go on and on about her all the time, the one with 'sparkling E/C eyes, and a perfect smile' " tim replied, blatantly mocking him
toby's cheeks dusted red as he glued his eyes quickly down to the floor. tim took notice of his colleagues actions yet he continued on anyway.
"your only friend, what's her name again?"
"It's (name)" toby quickly corrected, then Hesitated a moment before answering with: "and yes"
he mentally and physically braced himself, fully expecting tim to go absolutely ape shit on him, giving toby the whole lecture on how 'we must not be known about", and then going on saying that she should be killed immediately, then go tell 'master'.
But all he heard was a simple "hmm, whatever"
toby turned to face him with a shocked expression "you're not gonna rat on me?" I asked
He shrugged "nah, I don't really care, If you wanna dick around with someone then its your responsibility to take the fall for it if it gets out"
"Thanks Tim" toby said,
"yeah whatever, now get your ass to bed, before i do rat on you"
knowing tim absolutely wasn't kidding, toby wasted no time in getting up and racing into the small room that served as his own for as long as they were hiding out here. his room didnt have anything in it other than a bed with a thin blanket lazily draped over it. no pictures, no clothes, nothing. all he had on him as far as personal belongings was a picture of him and his sister that he kept in his pocket.
sure, it wasn't at all considered a 'comfortable bedroom' per say, more like a 'cold and damp room with a bed'
'not at all like (name)s' he thought as he lazily dropped on the small bed, still playing back those memories, both distant and new, that he held onto for dear life, like if he didnt keep going back to them, they too would be taken from him like almost everything else in his life was.
everything except (name)
she was all toby had, she was the only thing that brought him joy anymore, and hell if he was about to let that go.
he had promised to see her again, and he fully intended to keep it.
After all, he did leave his hatchet at her house... "accidentally" of course.

Romantik(Name) always had a soft spot for Toby, a boy she knew since preschool with a severe case of Tourette's syndrome. Then one day, when the Rodgers family house went up in flames, even you thought that the fire had taken toby with the house. Until one...
