Her little flaw (Chapter 22)

Lady Keito stood up to check on Lady Daiki. She whimpered in her sleep.

''My lady? Are you in pain? My lady.'' She tapped Daiki's cheek.
''Kota!''  Daiki scrambled to get up but Keito stopped her.
''My lady!''
''Kota. Where is Kota?'' Daiki looked horrified in contrast with Keito who smiled.
''You're alright! You're back, my lady!''  Keito hugged the older woman.
''Lady Keito?''
''I..I'm sorry. That was too insolent of me.''
''It's alright, but..I'm thirsty.''
''Ah,  of course.''
Kieto poured water on a glass and gave it to Daiki.

''How's Kota? Is he alright?''
''Y-You knew, my lady?''
''Yes. Is he alright?''
''Yes, my lady. He's still sleeping but the colonel is better than when he arrived. Would you like to visit him?''
''No.Not today.''
''Yes, my lady.''


''Mama!''  Yuri ran to her step-mother.
''Princess, were you hurt?''  Daiki spinned the little girl to check on her.
''M-mama, dizzy. I'm fine.. I'm fine.''
Daiki hugged Yuri tightly.
''I'm..I'm going..to..die...''

''That's unfair! What about us?!'' Yuto pouted. Daiki chuckled. The children were so adorable. She patted Ryutaro's head.
''Does it still hurt?''
''Not anymore. The doctor said I could walk in the next days.''
''That's good.''

She walked beside Ryosuke's bed.

''Child, don't make your siblings worry like what you did.''
''But, he could have killed Yuto.''
''I know. I regret being weak that time. I'm sorry that I didn't notice anything. You were all put in danger.'' Daiki hugged Ryosuke. The girl almost died saving her brother Yuto when she took the bullet that was suppose to be for him.
''You were all so brave. I'm so proud of you.''
''But mama..''  Yuri looked like she's going to cry.  ''We don't have our baby anymore, ouch!'' She snapped when Ryutaro whacked her head.
''Don't remind her!''
''Yes. We..we don't have our little angel but..maybe, he's not for us. But he'll be with your Mama Aki, right? She will take care of my baby?''
''Yes.''

''Don't mention Mama Aki for now. It makes me think of grandpa and I really hate him more.'' Yuto nodded at Ryosuke but it puzzled the rest of the people in the room.
''Well then, I think it's time you tell me what really happened?''

''Grandpa. Just like what he did to you, I saw him many times putting something on mama's drink. I was young and I didn't know that he was poisoning our mama.'' Ryosuke bit her lips.
''H-He w-what?''  Ryutaro looked shocked. He admires the old man so much.
''Is that why you insisted on preparing our meals and my meals for that matter?''
''Yes. I was scared that he might poison us all.''

''And the night mama died. When robbers broke into our house...''
''They were not robbers!'' Yuto yelled. '' The one who killed mama,it was... it was grandpa! Before he stabbed mama, she was able to grab his mask when they struggled!''
''Grandpa said that he would kill us and take little Yuri and Ryutaro if we tell anybody about what happened. We were so scared!''
''Enough! That's enough!''
The children looked at their step-mother.
''Your papa will never let anything happen to you. I won't allow it either!'' She reached for Ryosuke and Yuto.
''You two have suffered so much. It's time to give it a rest. You two did a good job protecting your brother and sister. All of you, you have been through so much trouble and heartache so don't forget how you protected and loved each other. Take it with you until you grow up. Never break your bond. Understand?''
''Yes, mama.''



''Are you sure about this, my lady?''  Hikaru brought Lady Daiki to Lord Yabu's prison after getting approval from Lieutenant Yuya.
''Yes. Would you leave us?''
''I will. But I'll be here if you need me, alright?''
''Yes my lord. Thank you.''

She took a deep breath and entered the connecting door to the old man's cell. The man looked up to see her...still alive.

''I can't believe this. You're still alive.''
''I'm sorry to disappoint you, my lord.''
''What can I say, you're a Shimuzu afterall.''
''That's not the reason why I came here.''
''Then what?''

''Is it true, that you're the one who killed the children's mother?
''Ah! So they finally told you their little secret.'' Daiki was horrified to confirm the truth.
''But isn't it to your advantage? If Lady Aki  didn't die you would never have married my son. You might still be a street rat until now or working for other household.''

''I just couldn't believe it that two Shimizu's were able find their way to my family.''
''What?''
''I just knew that Shimizu's children will come after me. Well, Daisuke's blood is not on me for I wasn't the one who killed him but Iwas successful in getting rid of the second one, and now you're here too?''
''Second one?''
''Yes. My son's first wife. She's a Shimizu too.''
''W-What do you mean..Lady Aki is a Shimizu?''
''Oh right! You were so young back then.''
''W-What are you talking about?''

''Do you know my daughter-in-law, that by confining me here we're all trapped? We all fell into the hands of your eldest brother?''
''Daisuke is dead--''
''Of course Daisuke is dead! I'm talking about your other brother.''
''I don't have...''
''Yes you have!''


Major Hikaru ran inside the room when he heard Lady Daiki yelled. He broke old man Yabu's grip on the lady for he's scaring her.

''You lie! You lie!''
''My lady, calm  down. Calm down!''  Hikaru helped her out of the room while the other guards lock the door.
''My lady! Shhhh! Calm down.''




Lady Keito assisted Lady Daiki to see the colonel when they were informed that he's awake but Daiki stopped when she heard voices inside his room. She turned to walk away but Lady Keito was already knocking.

''Lieutenant, Lord Hikaru, hmmm. Lady Daiki is here---'' before she finished, Lady Kei opened the door further and ran after Daiki and dragged her back.

Lady Daiki's soul almost left her body when she met her husband's eyes. Kota smiled at her, of course his eyes disappeared. One thing that she really loves about him.

Lady Kei snapped at the others and pinched her husband Yuya to give the couple privacy.


''H-How are you feeling?''  Lady Daiki fidgeted.
''You're here now so, I'm fine..'' Kota's voice was low and weak but Daiki looked up upon hearing it.
''Come closer.'' Daiki sat beside her husband's bed. She ran her eyes on his wounds. His wounds that he got saving Ryutaro and Yuri.

She was startled when Kota's cold hand took hers.
''Daiki. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I failed to save our child. F-Forgive me.''
Kota raised her hand and kissed it.
''I'm sorry.''

''I-I'm glad you're doing fine now.''  Lady Daiki touched Kota's face.
''I'm sorry about what my father did. I need to know why he had to do those things. I need to know why he tried to hurt us all.'' The lady's expressioned turned grim.
''And I promise it will never happen again. Never!''
''I'm happy to know that you're back. The children will be happy and they don't need worry about anything anymore.''

Lady Daiki stood up and leaned to kiss her husband whom she missed a lot. Kota answered with the same passion.

''I love you Daiki. I love you so much.''
''I know. But I don't think I can stand beside you anymore.''
''W-What? What do you mean?''

''Give me my freedom, Kota. I want a divorce and I need it immediately.''
