They were invisible in the dark of the night, hidden from sight by the pitch black that shielded them, protected them, with nothing but their aligned footprints in the snow to give even a hint of their presence. They were in a world of their own, arms wrapped around each other as hushed whispers were traded, only broken by a soft giggle or a long moment of silence as they stopped walking- too caught up in each other, too distracted by the other's lips and unable to resist a moment longer — they stopped to kiss, feeling safe amidst the empty streets and dark shadows.
"You make me dizzy..." Bucky blinked open his steel blue eyes to gaze at the man in his arms, the man who tasted like home and happiness and love. His fingers traced along the strong angles of the younger man's jaw, coming to rest at his lips before even the small amount of distance became too much and he was leaning back in; kissing Steve with more love and emotion than he could ever put into words.
If not for the cold, they may have just spent the rest of the night kissing, the rest of the world forgotten. But Bucky had to take care of his precious boy, the beautiful blond who made his heart race and his head spin.
"We should get goin'," Steve finally whispered, smiling against his lips before pulling away to take his hand. "s'gettin' cold."
"It's cold as death out here, Rogers." Rolling his eyes with a soft smile he wrapped an arm around his lover as they continued walking. He couldn't help but smile at the sound of Steve's laugh, a sound that he would never tire of hearing.
"We were right outside the club, Buck. We couldn't have made it another twenty feet?"
It was now Bucky's turn to laugh, shaking his head with a sigh and pulling Steve closer, partly due to the cold, but also just needing to feel the heat of the man he'd given his heart and soul to.
As they walked into the club, the soft sound of jazz had Bucky gazing down at Steve to see a loving smile on his face, which he knew, mirrored his own. The club was crowded with couples dancing and drinking, with no one paying attention to the blond and brunette who had just walked in.
"You promised me a dance..."
Bucky's breath ghosted against the back of Steve's neck, soon followed by a soft kiss that sent chills racing up the blond's spine. "I guess I did, didn't I?" Steve couldn't hide his happiness as Bucky led him onto the floor, heart overflowing with love as he was soon wrapped once again in his man's arms. "I love you," he murmured against the shell of Bucky's ear, closing his eyes and tucking his face against the taller man's neck, heart skipping a beat as Bucky returned the words.
They danced like they kissed; each step filled with passion and love, bodies pressed close together as if even an inch of distance might ruin the moment. Their hands roamed each other's bodies, yet always settling in the same positions. And even then, they needed to be closer. When had they started kissing again? Steve didn't even know. His heart was racing as he was lifted off the ground by strong arms, legs instinctively wrapping around Bucky's as they mapped and remapped each other's mouths. Each brush of lips against the other's sent off sparks that ignited, filling every ounce of Steve's body with love. Their touch was electric, addicting, slowly taking over as the soft music faded. Bucky was carrying him away, their dance interrupted by their desperation to be impossibly closer. A door, Bucky had spotted a door, somehow between love-filled kisses; and next thing Steve knew, they were finally, finally alone.
