My hips sway slowly to the beat and I get carried away in the music. The band, Smile, is incredibly talented; I come to see them every couple of weeks. Their music relieves me of my worries, as does most music. "Doin' alright..." I sing the last line along with everyone else before stumbling over to the bar. There are so many people here on Fridays, especially females looking to go home with the band's drummer, Roger. Of course, I would never have a chance with him even if I wanted to. Having to deal with the aftermath of that would just be messy and not worth the experience. Besides that, I'm saving myself for marriage. That's when the time will be right. I won't let someone misshapen that belief of mine. The band begins playing song after song before it reaches the end of the night, or should I say very early morning, probably around 3 am. I decided not too stay any longer because I was getting a little tipsy and I didn't want anyone to take advantage of me. I sneak out the back since the front is so crowded. Beer can still in hand, I walk as the crisp air hits my face. The silence is deafening compared to the loud music inside. I can still hear the ringing in my ears.

"Hey, come over here for a second!" I hear someone call to me. I look around and see the band from inside. I see Brian, a member of the band, motion for me to walk over towards them. I was a little hesitant, since Roger seemed to be looking me up and down. God, a part of him made me uncomfortable, yet I do have to admit, he was highly attractive. A young man stood in front of them, clearly wanting something.

"Look, it's really late and I must be going home. I don't have time for nonsense." They seemed appalled by my remark, but I was a nervous wreck. What could they possibly want from me? The young man turned around, and I got a good look at him. He was tall, had black hair that reached his shoulders, and remarkable buck teeth. I looked between him and the band before Brian spoke, "Our lead singer, Tim, just quit, and we were wondering if you could help us out." I widened my eyes. It was Roger's turn to mumble, "We weren't really wondering, mate." This has turned from scary to awkward. "Oh, I don't really sing, and I don't seem like I would fit into your group." I said shyly. The black-haired boy finally spoke and said, "No, not you, darling. They mean me." Okay, now I was confused.

Brian spoke again, "We need your input. Listen to Freddie here sing. Is he good enough to be in Smile? Roger and I haven't heard him and we need an outside opinion." Now I understood. I nodded my head and stepped back, signaling for Freddie to begin. He sang the song from inside. "I know what I'm doin'..." He was absolutely brilliant. Brian and I were looking at Freddie, but I could feel Roger's eyes on me. It almost made me squirm, but Freddie's voice distracted me. I stood there in shock. As soon as he finished, I said, "You'd be crazy to deny him." He smiled, then ran up and hugged me. I was taken aback by this since I didn't know him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a paper and pen, wrote something down, and then handed it to me. It was his phone number. He spoke, "I owe you. Call me if you need something." And with that, he was off. I stood there, quite amused by the scene that just took place.
