Chapter 1- The ceremony 

Here we go. Todays the day, the day where all my dreams come true. The clock strikes 12 and the bell rings. Suddenly a voice appears from the loud speaker.  

''ALL STUDENTS REPORT TO THE CHAPEL IMMEDIATELY FOR THE PARING CEREMONY!''

I can feel my palms sweating and a shiver of excitement cascades down my spine. Finally, Chaddley will be mine. 

Global warming has taken a turn for the worse and the world will slowly become uninhabitable unless there are enough humans to adapt to the changes. As a result, the government has issued a decree that boys and girls must all be paired and intercourse must be partaken to ensure as many babies are born into the world, increasing the chances of human survival. My bestfriend Panielle is getting really nervous but I'm as cool as a cucumber! I know I'm getting Chadley and I'm just nervous about his reaction. 

I take my seat. Higgis takes to the floor and begins his speech but I'm not listening. I'm staring at Chadley who's sat opposite.. Damn he is so hot. His chiselled jaws is tense and I see his shoulder muscles flex agitatedly under his tight shirt. His golden hair falls in perfect curls and I can't wait to run my hand through them. Suddenly he looks over and meets my eyes, time seems to stop. I have to cross my legs ( girls you know what I mean ) and I bite my lip. In only a matter of time he will be wrapped around my little finger. Watch this space. 

" THE PAIRING WILL NOW COMMENCE. " 

Higgis begins, " PAIRING 1, JAUDIA LAMAGE AND LEN BERRIT." 

Woah, plot twist! I didn't realise they were pairing up students with teacher, hey ho I know I'm sorted! Maudia, who is sitting next to me puts her hand over her mouth trying to act shocked, but I see under it a wide grin appears. 

"PAIRING 2 PANIELLE AND IVAN P-DOGGÉ."

Panielle blushes and looks at me for reassurance. Ivans ok, but he's no Chaddley. The wait seems endless and the anticipation is killing me. One after another students are paired up, but when will it be my turn! 

"PAIRING 94 SERVAL DANAGAN AND...." 

Suddenly Higgis pauses... 

"FOR SOME REASON IT SEEMS TO BE TELLING ME THAT SERVAL, AS THE ONLY FEMALE RED HEAD IN THE SCHOOL, MAY CHOOSE HER PARTNER TO ENSURE HER GENES ARE SECURED." 

Thats right, I think to myself. I pretend to look confused, 

"w..w..what? who me?" I say loudly. 

Fooled em. My moment has arrived. Standing up I look around the room as if to give the appearance I haven't decided on my man. 

"ME!!!" 

What the hell? I hear someone shout from the back.  A boy I don't recognise runs out from the back of the chapel... stop fool! If my chances with Chaddley are messed up, i. will. kill. you. Breathless, the stranger continues, 

"it..it should be me, as the only male red head...my name is Mosh, Mosh Jurphey." 

He comes up to my face and grabs my hands, pulling them close to his chest. For a moment, I feel myself falling into his emerald green eyes.... STOP! What am I doing! The only green eyes I should be staring into are my baby Chaddleys, the apple of my eye, the straw to my berry, the love of my life.... at least, I think?

"SERVAL, YOU MUST CHOOSE IMMEDIATELY."

 Higgis warns me. 

"Get off me you baffoon." I say to Mosh.

I flick Mosh off me and spit in his face, my usual tactic for getting rid of unwanted attention. Suddenly I feel a pang in my chest, could this be.. regret? No no, of course not. 

"I choose... Chaddley."
