“Space is just a word made up by someone who’s afraid to get close.”

Alya quoted in unison with her music that resounded from her speakers out into her room. You see, the youthful young teenager was really going through it these days. Fighting with her sister daily, grade percentages decreasing, peers getting distant, foolish fights with her boyfriend that seemed to break out more often nowadays, poor girl did not know what to do about anything as she felt the world was slowly closing in on her, losing one thing or the other each day. “Maybe I should do something productive then just groove in my room all day.”The girl inquired. “Maybe I could study, or go get pastries with Marianette, or-” The brunette’s thoughts were soon cut off once seeing her boyfriend Nino standing in front of her.

She felt her eyes widen at the sight of him. The two of them really got into it last night, an altercation lasting almost two hours. Both of their throats deliberately turning red as their shouting increased with each enraged sentence that fell from eachother’s lips. Nasty things were said about one another but not one of them had the guts to put their pride aside and apologize first.

A few seconds later which seemed to feel like hours according to Alya, the male finally said something to break the somewhat awkward silence and tension they were both swimming in. “H-hey.” He stuttered, pushing up his glasses even though they were sitting perfectly fine on his face. “Why are you here? Didn’t you say you never wanted to see me again?” Alya said, crossing her arms and turning her head the opposite way. He attempted talking again, his voice sounding small. “I didn’t mean-”  “You said that because of me hanging out with Marianette, someone I have known since grade school.” She interrupted him.

“Okay, you just hang out with her way too much. What about us?” Nino looked the other way as well, clearly annoyed with the time his girlfriend has been spending with her friend. “What about us?” Alya questioned in a bothered tone. “We are perfectly fine.” “Okay Alya.” He grunted, placing his head up. “Me or her?” The teenage girl gasped once hearing his ultimatum, her eyebrows furrowing in discomfort and confusion. “You can’t really think-” “Me or her?” Nino repeated, venom in his voice.

Silence fell upon them both. Alya just staring at her supposed to be boyfriend in disbelief. She loved Nino, but she also loved her best friend Marianette. The one that was there when no one else was, the one who let her cry on her shoulder, the one who never left. Memories started filling into her head and she fell to her knees. Staring at her empty palms as hot tears streamed down her face.

Nino didn’t really seem to care at her semi break down she was having right in front of him, considering that he still stood his ground with his hands on his hips. Many tears later, Alya looked up at the dark haired male. Her eyes fuming in anger before muttering. “I choose her.”
