Castiel shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He was trying to focus on what the principle was saying, but he had already gone through 4 other schools and they all said the same thing. All he could think about was the wings tucked under his trench coat. All castiel wanted was to let them free and feel the wind rustle through his delicate white feathers. He was daydreaming about it when he heard his name. When he looked up the principle and his brother were staring at him. "I'm sorry, I'm really tired I must of zoned out" castiel quickly replied turning red.
"I said, I think you will fit in nicely here mr Novak. You have great grades and you and your father seem very respectful."
Castiel looked over at Michael and tried not to smile. He always found it amusing how people believed he was his father.
"Yes sir, I hope I will" he replied. The principle handed castiel a list of books he would need for school and a map so he wouldn't get lost in the maze of buildings. "I'll see you here bright and early tomorrow morning castiel. Come see me and I'll have a student show you around."
With a warm smile the principle shook Michael's hand then Castiel's and showed them out of his office.
When they were out of earshot of everyone Michael turned to Castiel, "you really have to try to be more discreet this time cas. We're running out of schools you can go to."
Cas looked down at his feet feeling a surge of guilt rush through his body. "I'm really sorry Michael. I don't mean for people to find out." He looked up at his brother, tears filling his big blue eyes.
Michael put a hand on his shoulder and sighed, "don't look at me like that cas, I'm sure everything will be ok this time. Just try to stay under the radar. I'm still trying to clean up our mess from the last school."
Cas took a deep breath and put on his best brave face, "ok Michael, this will be the last time I promise!"
As castiel and Michael pulled into their driveway of the new house castiel looked up at the cozy little cottage they'd just moved into. He couldn't help but hope that this would be where he would stay for good. He thought of his new friends that he hoped he would make, walking along the road, chatting, not having a care in the world. Going to the local corner store and sitting in a booth. Normal teenage stuff.
Michael turned off the car and shifted to look at him. Castiel felt his eyes on him and looked up at him tilting his head and wondering what was going through his brothers mind.
Finally Michael spoke, " I really hope you like this one cas. You know I want what's best for you." He ruffled castiels wild dark brown hair and gave him a big smile. Castiel chuckled in return. "Thanks mike, I really want to like it here too."
The boys stepped out of the car and looked around their new neighbourhood. It was a small quiet town, the only sounds castiel could hear were children laughing and playing with their friends. He took a deep breath, enjoying the feeling of the fresh air filling his lungs. Michael started walking towards the house but turned when he realised that castiel wasn't behind him. "You coming or are you just gonna stand out here all night?" Michael asked with a chuckle. "Actually I was gonna ask if you mind if I went for a walk to see the new town." Castiel replied his eyes wide and pleading.
"Come on, cas. That's not fair using your puppy dog look on me like that."
"Please mike. I promise I'll be careful. I just want to be outside for a little bit to clear my mind and relax. I'll be back before dark." Michale sighed, "yeah I guess that's ok. But we're going to have a talk later so don't be too late. Don't make me ground you!"
Castiel had already taken off running as soon as Michael had said yes.
When he could no longer see the house behind him he slowed to a walk and started to really take in his surroundings. The quiet little brick houses lining the streets, beautiful gardens out the front. Everyone in this town seemed to keep a very neat and tidy yard. He couldn't see a single weed in any of the gardens, fine trimmed lawns and the houses with bikes were all propped against the fence neatly. He also noticed a sweet smell in the air, since it was the middle of spring there were flowers blooming everywhere. closing his eyes Cas breathed in the intoxicating smell, a smile spreading on his lips. As he was trying to identify what type of flowers he could smell he ran right into something solid.
Not something. Someone!
