[Jan. 2019]
you're uncaring.
you'd swallow me up like the waves
taking on a grain of sand,
but i've grown to love you.
the prodigious amount of green
leaves me searching for the sky blue
i've taken for granted,
but lately you've been generous enough
to lend me bits and pieces.
the rain that drips and pours
from your treetops leaves me drenched,
and it seems as if
you're laughing.
you're uncaring—for me.
but you tend and love the chirping wildlife
that's sequestered in your never-ending shades
and uses you for sustenance.
your continuity swells,
and threatens to overtake the civilization
that i'm from.
but because i've grown to love you,
i'd happily allow it.
