I Love You With Everything That's Left Of Me

Chapter 5

I am honestly surprised I was able to find anyone.. Let alone a super hot guy to travel with. I thought everyone above ground was dead. In fact everyone in the bunker was sure that they were the last people alive. I thought I would going at it alone. I knew I didnt stand a chance though. I'm feeling more hopeful now that I've found a traveling companion. 

"So tell me," Nick's voice snaps me out of my trance.

"Where were you heading?" 

"I'm looking for my brother. I'm pretty sure he would head towards the mountains." Nick stopped and groaned.

"The mountains are sooooo far away though. You're also out of your mind if you think I'm taking you across that feild. It's crawling with hundreds of undead. I swear zombies are popping up like ants at a picnic." He didnt have to warn me to stay away from that field. I saw first hand what could happen.

I nodded as we continued on.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.

"Well if you wanna head to the mountains we need to get some supplies. I have a hide out a little ways from here. I found a hidden cave. Nothings found me yet." He flashed me a smile. How are his teeth so perfect? 

"Anyway, can you hunt? Do you know how to shoot a gun?" I remembered back to watching my brother start his short training session. Thinking I was never gonna have to learn how to use a gun. Boy I feel dumb now for not trying to stick around.

I shook my head and Nick sighed.

"Guess I'll just have to teach you then." suddenly he turned and started leading me to a pit in the ground. he started parting bushes and vines. and motioned for me to walk through. I stepped into a small opening. The wall were stone with various sharpened tools, weapons, and afew guns lined up along one side. On the other side he had a few squirells and a deer hanging up.

"That deer was a lucky find." He suddenly spoke up.

"Large animals are hard to come by. I wish I could find a wild turkey."

"How do you start fires without anything noticing you?" He smirked.

"There arent many undead out here. If something ever happens to wander up I shoot it in the face. One zombie isnt hard to kill." I shuddered at the thought of a zombie wandering uo whike we were trying to sleep.

"I made a small fire pit in the back of the cave. Theres another exit out there were the smoke leaves. Have a large Rock I use to cover it at night. I actually just started doing tat because I got an intruder. Its not what you tnhink either. I freaking coyote got in and started going through all my stuff. I scared it off real quick." 

My stomach started to growl at the thought of meat. He looked at me with an amused look and I blushed. 

"Whens the last time you ate?" I thought about the peice of bread I ate and realized that was around mid-day. The sun had started to set.

"Its been awhile." I replied. He immediately started digging around in a box behind him and pulled out a box of crackers. 

"I went to a town a few miles away from here and raided some places. I'm honestly surprised no other loners have found it yet. I sometimes go back on days I feel like going that far. Most of the time I just hunt and pick berries though."

He tossed the box to me. I realized quickly that it was cheez-itz.

"Oh my sweet jesus I love these!" I laughed. Before the out break started I lived of these things. I would sit on the couch while wtching a movie and shove handfuls into my face. I immediately ripped open the box and popped afew in my mouth.

"Mmmmmm" I sighed.

"I missed these." He started to laugh.

"That store had a whole shelf full. I grabbed like 10 boxes" He caught my attention.

"Any chocolate?"

"Afew bags of m&ms and some snickers and babe ruths. I took those a long time ago though." He gave me a sad smile. I was happy I still had my Hershey bar. It probably half melted in it wrapper in my bag. I didnt care Its still chocolate.

"Before I left my friend gave me something." I spoke. I started diiging in my bag and pulled out the Hershey bar that surprisingly still felt in tact. He just stared.

"Do you know howlong I've been looking for those?" He shouted. He sounded kind of like that cowboy guy from zombie island that was obbessed with twinkies. i giggled to myself. That was the best movie.

"Do you want to sha-"

"YES" He darted over and snatched it out of my hand he ripped of the plastic cover and broke off half. Then started to nibble on it.

"Oh chocolate I missed you." He sighed. I think I finally found someone that loves chocolate more than me. I laughed. He took 10 minutes nibbling one square.

"Eat it slowly it lasts longer." He mumbled. I was content with letting the squares sit in my tongue and melt.

"This is great. I haven't had chocolate in forever." I sighed. Eventually we finished it and he was stuck getting the crumbs out of the corners of the wrapper. He looked at me and smiled.

"You just made a new best friend." I smiled feeling kind of victorious. I managed to make him like me. and all I had to do was give him chocolate. A boy thats a total chocoholic. I imagined a girl being that way but not a guy.

I realized we had been sitting in here for awhile. I got up and peeked my head outside. it was dark. And cold. I didnt realize that earlier today. In fact when I was down in the bunker I realized I had lost all sense of the time of year.

"DO you have any idea what season it is?" I asked. He pondered for a minute. 

"Probably around mid Fall. If I had to guess i would say the month is October. Infact I'm almost sure it's October. I had a device that told me the date. the battery died though. That wasnt to long ago. It died back at the end of august. Its been atleast 9 weeks." I nodded. I didnt even notice the leaves were diffrent shades of oranges and yellows. Not to mention they littered the ground.

"No wonder its so cold outside." I said shaking. He looked at me and blushed.

"I only have one sleeping bag..." This caused me to blush as well. He quickly shrugged his off though.

"I guess we'll just have to share until you get one." My face turned an even brighter shade of red. I could of swore I saw him smirk.

He rolled it out and patted for me to go lay down. I stood glued to my spot.

"Its either this or freeze." He said.

"Im not gonna lie, its gonna be nice to have someone else laying next to me. It gets really cold at night."

I gave up and went to lay down next to him. He pressed his body against mine and zipped up the sleeping bag. Eventually he fell asleep and his arm slipped over my waist as he pulled me closer. Awwww he likes to cuddle. I tried to focus on the fact that a stranger wasnt snuggling me. A really cute stranger. Eventually I calmed my mind enough to fall asleep.
