Abel! No! How could this happen? I don't understand! Abel! Wake up! Please! No! Abel!
At that point, I woke up. I know I heard Lilith screaming, but I couldn't pinpoint how far away her voice was. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I probably wasn't on earth anymore. If I was on earth, why was her voice far away? Could it be...? No. Surely not.
But as I stood up, I realized I was in some sort of land of...clouds? Was I having a dream? Was I dead? Or was it something else entirely? Maybe I was in the process of death. Maybe this was where dead people went before they died? Or maybe I was just already dead and this was Heaven and I was overlooking things.
The last thing I remembered was proposing to Holly Spicer in the jungles of Selvadorada. Then I think I had a massive heart failure and just dropped dead in front of my elderly sister and teenaged nephew. Not to mention my fiancée. Poor Holly.
No. Not just poor Holly. Poor Lilith. Sammy. Connor. Phoenix. Please, Phoenix. Be good for Daddy. Your mother might have been the most evil person in your daddy's life, but he still loves you. I have feelings. Ghosts have feelings. Right?
Well, just as I was thinking those thoughts, I realized I wasn't a ghost. I was completely flesh and blood. How did that make any sense? When you die, you become a ghost, right? I didn't know anymore. I decided it was time to get some answers. So I stood up and started walking. I couldn't see anything but a pinkish hue of sky and clouds. Strange. The hue in the sky matched the color of my eyes. Maybe that was just coincidence.
I was so busy looking at the sky above me that I didn't notice the very large godlike figure before me until I happened to bump into his leg. He was so big, I could barely even reach his kneecap. To be honest, I'm not sure how I missed him. I guess I was just too busy looking at things.
"HELLO, BOY!!" the god boomed. "YOU LOOK KIND OF YOUNG TO BE IN HEAVEN!! MAY I ASK HOW YOU DIED BEFORE YOU PROCEED?"
I was startled by the question, but decided that lying would probably get me sent to Hell, so I told the truth. "Cardiac arrest!" I replied. "Very sudden cardiac arrest!"
"Oh," he said. "Okay."
Wow. Why was he so nonchalant all of a sudden?
It was at that point when I saw a large door off to the left. Curiously, I approached it, but the god immediately stopped me with his gargantuan hand. "No! You're not allowed in there!"
"Oh," I said. "Why?"
"Because that's where people who die of old age go!" he responded. "You're not allowed there!"
"What kind of segregated Heaven is this?" I demanded. "What if I wanted to see my dad? Or my stepmother? Or my sister, when she dies?"
"They can come out at their leisure," he replied.
I sighed. "Fine! Where's my room then? Where do you keep people who died from accidents? Or illnesses?"
"I don't know. We don't have a room for them," he said. "They're not as common here as the other kinds. You can just hang out. Go entertain yourself. I think somebody else just died."
Off he went, before I could say anything.
Wow. Rude.
"Abel!" screamed a voice suddenly. "Abel! Abel!"
Wait... I knew that voice.
I turned around and could scarcely believe my eyes. I couldn't believe it. "Mom!"
