Devin
It has been a few years since I have visited my family. My name is Devin Friday. I am twenty-one at the moment since my birthday is coming up on July second. It was almost midnight and I have been staying up to practice my drawing skills in charcoal when I suddenly get a phone call.
I pick up the phone and ask "Hello?".
There was a familiar female voice on the other line, "Hello!" It sounded a lot like my sister Brianna.
"Is this Devin?" She asks.
"Yes, this is Devin," I answer.
"Hey, Devin, mind opening the door for me?" She asks. I get up and head over to my front door and open it. And as I expected it was my sister.
"Thank you," she says.
"Why are you here, especially since it's almost midnight?" I ask as I let her inside.
"I just wanted to get aw- I mean see you again," Brianna says.
I look at her and shake my head, "What happened with Mom and Dad this time" I ask.
"They're going to get a divorce," She says softly. I'm not too surprised about this news since my mother and father never really loved each other. I often had to take care of my sister while my parents went out to get drunk or party.
Brianna then hugs me and starts to cry. I hug her back and whisper softly into her ear, "It's going to be okay." She looks up at me and smiles as tears still flow down her red cheeks.
"Sit down on the couch, I'll make you some of your favorite tea," I say as I head into the kitchen. I can hear Brianna shuffling behind me to hug me again. Brianna has always been clingy, especially when I'm around. She loves to hug me and just antagonize me with cuddles. I pour some water into a pot and set it onto the stove. I turn around only to see Brianna there watching me like a cat who had just heard a can of tuna being opened.
"Are you hungry?" I ask. Brianna's stomach growls as she nods. I sigh then open up my freezer. "I have some Hot Pockets and a couple of frozen pizzas," I say as I pull out one of the Hot Pockets for myself.
"Do you have the Meat Lover's frozen pizza?" Brianna asks.
"Yeah. Would you like one?"
"Yes please!" She says cutely. I smile as I put my Hot Pocket and pull out the pizza. I put the pizza into the oven and wait. After a couple of minutes, the tea and pizza are finished. Brianna and I spent about an hour playing Mario Kart and Just Dance till we fell asleep at about four in the morning.
