Things were always quiet, in the small town of Ocean Lake. The only noises we heard were arguing neighbors, planes, and small conversations. The one thing we never heard was...Music. Whatever that was, nobody around here knew what it was, or what it sounded like. All we knew was, we couldn't make it or listen to it. Otherwise, those who did, would be killed. Legend has it there were secret messages put into songs, that caused a mass suicides, so they banned music forever. It was the only way they could save the economy. Elders always say the world has and will never be the same. My parents always say the last 21 years have been miserable, without their precious music. I hated seeing them so upset, but I could never relate. For me, things were always like this, always quiet, always plain, always basic. My name, Jughead Jones. Most people know me as the weird kid, or the trouble maker. They say that I always go looking for trouble, and cause problems for myself. But I they only say that because they know about my father, FP Jones, also known as the towns very own Hooded Sinner. They blame him for the mass suicide that happened in Ocean Lake, 21 years ago. I never thought he was capable of something like that, I still don't, But know one will ever actually know what happened that day.

I sat in my room staring at the blank ceiling, listing to the ear piercing silence. I sighed and rolled over on my side. I looked over to my alarm clock, the red numbers blinking 5:38am. I sighed again, rolling out of bed. I slid on my pants and a clean shirt, then pull on my beanie. I tiredly trudge into the bathroom, I brush my teeth and wash my face, which helped to wake me up a bit more. I grabbed an apple before walking into my little sisters room. I snatched off her cover and did a flying squirrel jump onto her bed. Scaring her out of her sleep, I laughed getting off of her, watching as she flicks me off.
{J} First day Freshie! Get the fuck up!
{JB} Why the hell do we have to wake up so early!? UGHH
She began to climb out of bed and grabbed some clothes from her dresser. She shooed me out of her room, while she got dressed. I walked back into the kitchen to see my mom sitting at the table sipping coffee, I took a bite out of my apple. I hear Jellybean come out of her room with her backpack on, she runs into the bathroom quickly brushing her teeth, hair, and washing her face. As she came out the bathroom I threw her an apple, and we started to walk out the door. But before we fully left, our mom stopped us. She pulled us both into a hug and kissed Jellybean on the cheek.
{JB} Mom, no more kisses! I'm in highschool.
{G} I don't care, you are and will always be my little girl. Jug still gets kisses.
I wiggled out of her grasp, and swing open the door walking out the door. I grab Jellybeans arm and pull her along, before my mom could kiss my cheek too.
{J} Bye mom, love you! We're gonna miss the bus, come on JB.
I closed the door and ran down the drive, stopping when I was at the end. I look back at Jellybean who was picking up her fallen pencils, which I knocked out of her hand accidentally.
{JB} We still have another 30 minutes. Why are we heading to the bus stop?
{J} Because, I usually like to go to Sunday Sundae's before school.
She nods and starts to walk along side me down the empty street. We enter the quiet diner and sit at a far table. I slide into the comfortable booth, JB sits across from me. She sighs, as we wait for a server. *Sunday Sundae's, was Ocean Lake's famous diner. It was everyone's local hangout and it has the best milkshakes, desserts, and dinners. And on Sunday's, ice cream was only a dollar.*
{J} Are you scared? Being a Freshman kinda sucks, especially when your dad's a known murder.
She sighed,
{JB} Yeah I guess, but on the bright side, I'll hopefully get to spend more time with you before you leave for college.
I nod, looking over at the giant clock on the wall. We had about 10 minutes before we had to be at the bus stop. I rolled my eyes, signaled to JB that we had to leave.
{JB} Why are we leaving?
{J} We have to be at the bus stop in 9 minutes, we'll come by after school.
She nods and we get up and walk out of the diner down the road, to our bus stop.
