My long nimble fingers fumble aimlessly through my golden locks that fall just below my waist, while I absentmindedly pace the small room I sadly call my own. The mirror that runs along the wall reflects moonlight on to my sullen face. The smell of pine and dew mix as they want in through the small broken window.

The old grandfather clock that lies next to my creaky old door strike two. Gently I grasp the cool copper knob and venture into the dark hallway. My brothers "sleep" behind the dark mahogany doors. Clearly the favorites of the so called "family" as my mother puts it.

My father, the man who always made me smile, was eaten when I was at the delicate age of six. Mother has lost her shit since then. A shiver dances down my spine as I walk out the wooden front door and begin the short walk to my secret hideaway. The distant sound of birds echo through the air while I remove the small boat from it's clearly hand built rack that it lied upon. With ease I push it into the clear water of my lake and swiftly climb in.

Drifting off from shore and to the middle of the lake, I make the risky decision to rest my eyes. Deep down I know I shouldn't, but mom doesn't wake till nine anyway, so I should be fine.
