Getting a roommate for the first time can be a bit nervewracking, especially when you've never met them before. I have just gotten into university and I have made the decision not to live on dorm but instead, get paired with a random roommate to split an apartment with! Normal right? Sounds like it could work.
The apartment is in an older brick building downtown, but it's a nice area nonetheless. It's a brick-walled studio with a loft that can either hold one double bed or a bunk so I went with the good old fashioned twelve-year-old favourited bunkbed.
After getting out of my taxi and all my bags on the curb, I begin the trek up the stairs to the 3rd floor. No elevators, no problem, 16 years of soccer have never seemed to fail me.
Once I have arrived at the door of the apartment with all of my bags I take a quick and much-needed breather as I slide my back down the wall and take a seat. I think to my self about just who would I be paired with.
Now that I think about it I have absolutely no idea who this person is going to be! Is it a boy or a girl? What's their name? Hundreds of questions run through my head but my thoughts are suddenly interrupted as I hear a weird noise coming from the door and room that I am sat next to. Sounds of crashing plates and glass are muffled by the walls between us. In a panic that something may have happened to my unmet roommate, I bolt to the door as fast as I can. Swinging open the door, I take a hot second to scan the room before me. It is quite the scene might it say.
A dark grey cat stands upon the loft railing. Suddenly said cat, in a poof of smoke, turns into a much large form that falls from the loft and onto the floor of the living room. Once the smoke and dust has cleared I peer forward to see what the hell was going on and to my surprise in the place of a cat was a dark-haired boy, presumably my age, with pointy ears and pointy teeth.
At that point, I simply say, "What the actual hell?" and much to my surprise he says, "Well, to put it simply, I'm something from hell."
