My name is Kasai Ai and my life started off like most kids, parents that cared and a quirk that developed early in life. I had this uncanny ability to manipulate energy, whether it be to shoot from my hands or as I later figured out, to soar me through the sky. Now everything wasn't always sunshine and rainbows for me. I was only ten when my life got flipped upside down. My father had gone berserk, in a maddened frenzy he murdered my mother before lighting her body ablaze with his fire quirk. I did not get out unscaved though. I ended up getting my arm crushed and torn off a little bit above my elbow. I would be dead if a hero hadn't swooped in to
save me. I remember the blood spilling from my arm as I wavered in and out of consciousness. I remember the fearless smile he had, even in the face of danger. The memory burned deep in my subconscious. My father ended up getting away because the hero was too focused on trying to get me out safely. After that event I decided to become a hero myself. I had to learn to defend and protect, so no one could hurt me or the ones I loved again. I am now eighteen and in my third year at UA High. I honestly didn't think I was to much of a big deal but everyone in my class thought I was pretty cool. I got sessions with the support classes as well and learned to make an automated arm that attaches to my nerves, it's also able to handle my quirk without rupturing. I tended to be a bit of a loner I guess, I just didn't like getting close to people, well that's until I met 'them'. A small group of three students, two first years, Tiya and Taylor Hikari, and one second year, Miko Arashi. They were a group of girls that had a lot of spunk and some pretty interesting quirks and personalities.I am not even sure Taylor is a girl, she seems a bit odd, but her and her twin Tiya aren't saying anything. They grew to be some of my closest friends. Taylor had the ability to manipulate fire, while Tiya could fly and manipulate water in all its forms, but they had one quirk that they both shared. They could trance people and change their moods with any melody. Miko was able to harden her bones and pull them from her body while making new ones. They were a strange bunch, but they were my friends. This morning I was up early in the morning, the pale morning light peeked through my curtains and I could tell that the sun wasn't going to showing its face. I got on my uniform for school and grabbed my umbrella as I headed out the door. I always leave early in the morning to head off to school that way I had time to stop and visit my mother. Normally I would stop and but her some flowers but I knew they wouldn't hold up in this rain well. I walked down the sidewalk rain dripping on my umbrella. My fiery orange and yellow ombre hair seemed darked in the gloom, but it still made me stand out enough. Some would ask why I was headed to school so early. I simply told them that "I always like to be punctual." even though that was never the case. I don't tend to tell people about the day my life crumbled. Once I arrived a knelt down in the slightly wet grass. I stared at the marker as I felt tears well in my eyes. It had been eight years and I still couldn't believe she was gone. I touched the name 'Yami Ai' I could feel the pain in my chest and I couldn't stop it. I don't think I will ever get over it. I dropped my umbrella and covered my face to cry. I remembered that I looked just like my father, except for my eyes, one of the things I inherited from my mother. I couldn't stop blaming myself. If I had acted maybe she would have been the one that got saved. I didn't deserve to still be alive. Suddenly I heard two voices behind me, one I recognized as Izuku Midoriya, from class 1-A, The other I didn't know entirely, but it rang something in my subconscious. I turned and tried to smile as tears streamed down my cheeks.
"Hey it's dangerous to be out here, especially if you are crying." The mystery guy that was with Midoriya said as picked my umbrella up off the ground and held it above me so the rain was no longer pounding on my head.
"Yea you don't want to get a cold Kasai." I heard Midoriya call. I wiped the tears from my eyes and stood up. My knees were fairly wet along with my hair, but all I could do was sigh and take my umbrella from the mystery man that was with Midoriya.
"So who's the stranger?" I asked. "I mean no offense to you Sir." I said feeling a bit embarrassed for not asking the guy directly.
"Just a family friend." The guy said. "Now you two should head off to school." Midoriya and I both nodded our heads as we walked together out of the cemetery. I had never really spoken much to Midoriya at school or not. He was one of the first years in Taylor's class. Even as we walked I didn't speak much, but that was mainly because I couldn't get my mouth to move. I was to focused on that day. It wouldn't stop playing in my mind like a movie put on repeat without a pause button. Why was this happening today of all days I couldn't pinpoint it, but my thoughts were interrupted when Midoriya spoke to me.
"So why were you at the cemetery Kasai?" My heart pounded. I had never run into another student while visiting my mother, so no one knew I was alone.
"Well... It's a long story. You sure you wanna hear about it?"
"Of course. " He said giving me a friendly smile.
