It was a sunny afternoon. Keyword was. The clouds had moved in quickly and consumed the hills with rain. Not that Koji cared though. He sat outside anyways, letting his clothes become soaked, their flamed patterns dulled with the hit of each droplet. He leaned against his sword as the rain continued. Koji was at one point a legend. Those days were now far behind him and that probably for the best because now all people saw him as was a senile old man. Senile. Who were they to call senile? He was barely in his 50's dammit! Was he really that grey? He ran a finger through his hair as these thoughts passed him like they most always do. He doesn't really have much to think about anymore. Nor much to worry about. Yet he still carried his sword everywhere.
He glanced at it for a second and made a mental note of its dull shine. Maybe someone at the bar would know of a capable smith. Or they'll insult him for using a sword in this day and age and accuse him of cheating at cards. Both were equally as possible. Koji chewed on the blade of grass, still making no effort to move from the rain. It showed no sign of stopping nor letting up. Two forces, unwilling to move in that moment. However. The storm would win. For the storm wasn't the one that was cold and wet. Finally he stood and cursed at the clouds for a moment before making his way down from his current position. Every day he sat atop a hill, one with a tree for shade and comfort. Although. Only when it wasn't raining. He clumsily made his way down back into the town he called his home. It was rather small and honestly a bit shit but it was home. As he walked through the streets he was greeted.
"Koji! You look like shit!"
"Hey Koji! Killed any demons today?"
"Oy Koji! Got some change I could borrow?"
All of these he promptly ignored. It's not that these people weren't important it's just that he was tired of hearing it all.
When he finally got home he swung open the door and slammed it behind him. He placed his sword down, heading straight towards the bathroom. He prayed he had done laundry or had a somewhat clean towel lying around. When he entered the bathroom he cheered quietly, for there was one right on the side of the bathtub. He picked it up and began to dry himself off. That's when he noticed something was wrong. His house was clean and everything in order. Odd. He poked his head out of the bathroom, his clothes were put away, the chairs were pushed in, the sink clean of dishes. Had he entered the right home?
Koji quietly crept through the home. This was indeed his house but who could've done all this? As he stood almost dumbfounded in the middle of it all he heard a voice.
"You know, I expected more from a professional demon slayer"
He turned, fists curled and came face to face with the invader. They were short, had red round glasses, half of their head shaved, wore a black leather jacket and had teal hair. Koji lowered his fists and cocked his head to the side.
"Who the hell are you and Why the fuck are you in my house?"
The person across from him quickly pulled a card from his jacket pocket and handed it out to him.
"My name is Zariel, I'm a member of an organisation that tried to keep demon activity on...a down low. We have received word that your life is in danger. So I was sent to-"
  "Kill me?"
"No! Why the hell would I kill you? Warn you and help protect you I suppose. I mean. You probably need the extra protection, seeing how you've let yourself go over the years."
"So you break into my house, clean my house then insult my figure? What the fuck?"
"Look I'm here to help"
    "Doesn't seem like it!"
Zariel put a hand on his forehead, clearly debating on if he should just leave Koji to his own devices.
"Look. All that isn't important. Your life is in danger whether you like it or not. The demon you killed years ago, his wife, she's not too pleased with what you've done and seeks revenge. She knows where you live and your daily schedule of doing fucking nothing on a hill. So if you want to die. Fine. Die, go off on your own and die but if you want to live? Come with me. And you won't have to worry about who's coming to your funeral any time soon. Alright?"
Koji paused.
"Fine. But do me a favor."
"What?"
"I need to get my sword sharpened. Do you know anyone who's a good Smith?"
