Sad!Bucky x Reader
You swung to the soft music that played in the living room of you and Bucky's (also Steve's) shared apartment. Bucky's grip on your waist was soothing and your fingers danced along the back of his neck. You baby blue dress that was the same color of his eyes twirled gracefully along with your movements.
As your left hand rested on Bucky's shoulder, you couldn't stop looking at the beautiful ring that he had used to ask to be his wife. It shined it the light, twinkling beautifully. It wasn't the biggest diamond, but as long as it ment you would spend the rest of your life with Bucky, you didn't care what the size was.
Bucky was a bit older than you. A 5 year age gap was between you two. Y'all dated for 2 years before Bucky had popped the question, waiting till you were officially a adult to get married. Two weeks after your 18th birthday, he got down on one day and asked the magic 4 word question: Will you marry me?
"What's on your pretty little mind, doll?" Bucky asked, looking in your eyes as if he was looking for a answer himself in them.
"I just can't wait to be y/n Barnes" you sigh with a smile going from ear to ear. Bucky chuckled, shaking his head slightly. He took your left hand off his shoulder and peppered it with kisses. Going up your arm, on your shoulder, innocently on your neck and finally he met your lips. The kiss was full of love and passion, as if he hadn't seen you in ages. You could taste his mint toothpaste, as he just brushed his teeth a few moment ago.
The moment was cut short when Bucky pulled away from you and held one hand still to your waist, but put on in the pocket of the khakis. He brought out a crumbled piece of paper that seemed to be sitting in there for a good while.
Bucky's smile that he usually wore whenever he was around you didn't appear as he twirled the paper in his hands. You knew something was seriously wrong.
"What's wrong, buck?" You ask, not taking your eyes off the paper that was still in hs hands. Instead of handing you the paper and let you read for yourself, he decided to tell you with his own voice.
"Y/n, you know that I love you. That's why I asked you to be my wife. You're the reason I get up in the mornings and decided to settle down with someone."
This was the part that he's gonna tell you he can't do this anymore. You thought to yourself. Anxiety rushed through you ad you waited for him to finish his sentence.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't know until after I propose to you" tears were threatening to spill from his eyes.
"Tell me, James! What's goin' on?" You raise you voice slightly, not out of anger, but out of fright.
"I've been drafted" he says, almost too quickly for you to understand. The music in the background seemed to disappear as what felt like ringing filled your ears. Your legs started to shake as you nearly threw yourself onto Bucky.
Sobs escape from both of your mouths as both of your clothes were being stained with one another's tears. Bucky was going to fight in a war and may not come back.
"Buck-" you stutter.
"It's okay. We'll be okay" Bucky kissed your forehead and smeared your tears away.
