Chapter 1: ML

It was a dark cold Friday night in the mountains of Colorado, I walked outside to see how cold it was, I would think that it was about 32 degrees Fahrenheit, an average night. As I walked inside I heard my friend driving down the road to my house, he is sixteen, I am fifteen but in three months I will be sixteen and I can't wait. The only way I knew it was him was because the distinct sound of his car, it sounded like a feral cat hissing as it was throwing up a furball. Sure his car sounds like death but it was actually a really nice car. It was a 1993 Corvette that hadn't been fixed for over ten years. He pulled in my driveway, he had always done it in an aggravating way, there were tire marks in my grass. He got out and said, "what's up", as always. I no matter what always said hi before him and he knew that. I asked him politely

"Would you please retry that, you know me Gavin", we are like brothers except for exact opposites, he is tall I am short, he is kinda, well was dumb and I am smart. We met seven years ago and I still remember that day by heart.

It was a crisp fall afternoon and we were walking home from school in the fourth grade, we honestly didn't even know each other, never had a single class together for three years, until he moved to North Carolina for a year, seventh grade was the same never had a single class together. Until we were both in the eighth grade together and I didn't have an option I was moving to South Carolina to stay with my dad. I missed him for year straight, of course, we called and stuff but it wasn't the same so I asked my dad, "If I do good in school can I go back home to my mom?" that was two years ago, now I am back in Colorado living the best year of my life, I got my permit and almost have my license!!!

As Gavin got back in the car, closed the door and got back out, I said, "What's up?".

"The sky", he said in a sarcastic tone.

"So you wanna come in?"

"For a bit, I guess"

When he meant a bit he meant that he was going to spend the night.

My mom loves him as if he were her own son.

My Great Dane, Tjango, greeted us at the door with attempts if hugs, and kisses.

We went to my room turned on the TV, went straight to Netflix, every time he came over we watched almost three hours of The Office. After that who knew, we played games on my x-box, laptop, pc, and even watched more Netflix. Until we fell asleep.

It was a Sunday, I woke up to my dog on my lap and Gavin was on my couch in my room. I went to the kitchen to make breakfast. Opened up the fridge, cabinet and the pantry, nothing for breakfast. Only one awake, can't drive without an adult, so I had to wait until someone wakes up or I wake them up. I decided to wait. gavin eventually got up. I asked him, "Yo, can you take me to the store real quick...Please?" Took him long enough to get up, now I have to wait like another ten minutes to acknowledge me. Great... I told him, "You want food as bad as me, and we don't have any... we ate it all last night, so get up and let's go to the store so I can buy eggs, bacon and some bread."

He eventually got up and we left. I had to find the bacon, eggs, and bread while he waited in the car for me to get back to the car. I paid twenty dollars for twenty-four eggs, two packs of bacon, and 3 loaves of bread. Went back to the car and he was asleep...I hate to wake him up but I can't drive yet.

When we got back to the house, I let him go and get more sleep, I made breakfast for, him, my mom, and my self. The smell of bacon spread throughout the house, I waited for my mom and Gavin to follow the smell to find their way to the kitchen to find their ready food that I always prepare for my family and friends that stay over.
