Three times. Three times in our lives are we granted the one thing we want most in life. It's never certain when these will happen. People have tried tracking it but nothing ever work. It's too erratic. It could happen for the first time when your 2 years old. It could happen for the first time when your 64 years old. It could happen in spans of decades or all at once. You never know what your going to get. You could think your deepest desire at the time is a shiny red Lamborghini and the wish happens and the next day your mother who you lost to dementia would no longer have the dementia.
The government developed the wish back in 3047 when trying to combat the failing needs of our planet. Earth was dying. We couldn't have a mass genocide happen. No wars had happened since 2085 when we finally achieved world peace. The earth was dying. The IUC government sent out a world wide memo stating that they had developed a cure for the failing world around us. They released it into the air and at first nothing happened. The earth continued to rapidly deteriorate. The oceans all almost completely dried up. The aquifers all gone. Crops unable to grow in the poisoned soil. The air toxic if you went outside for longer than an hour without your mask. Then suddenly the water in the oceans were replenished. All good fresh clean salt water. The rivers that had dried up so long ago running fresh and rapidly with water. The ground rich with nutrients. Grass real live grass was growing a vibrant healthy green. Trees were growing rapidly till they stood high and strong each and everyone had their branches full with leaves and pines and blossoms. Ever so beautiful. The air was clean. For the first time in decades children could play in the sun without their masks. Loved ones could go to the cemetery's and lay flowers on their loved ones graves. The wind was so cool and beautiful. The sun so bright without the constant smog and toxicity in the air. The earth was alive again. Because so many in that generation desired to have a living thriving healthy planet.
It's been 100 years since then. The earth strong and beautiful ever flowing with life. And now people wished for other things. Love, happiness, children, money. Some people can control when to make their wishes happen. I am one of those people. Ive had one desire my whole life. I've had dreams of a boy I never knew. But my heart yearns for him. Every time I think of him in my memory's my chest hurts. It demands someone who isn't real. But today my desire happened. And I am unsure of how to continue my life.
