Storm sat quietly, his pure white wings tucked neatly at his side. His pitch black fur swayed softly in the night breeze. His mind was wandering to earlier this morning. A new wolf had joined the pack. She's so beautiful... Storm thought, looking down at his paws. Her white and blue fur.... Gorgeous blue eyes.... I could stare into them for days.... He shook his head. "No!" He told himself sternly.
"She doesn't even talk! You don't even know her name!" He let out a soft growl, scraping the cold stone under his paws with his razor-sharp claws. "I need to know more about her!" He heaved a sigh and stood up, his wings unfolding and stretching out to their full length. He closed his eyes, and in one massive flap of his wings, he was in the air. He opened his eyes again and headed off back to his pack.
Storm landed by a huge waterfall and tucked his wings to his sides. He looked around, and once he was sure nobody was around, he padded behind the waterfall and into a small opening. He was engulfed by darkness for a split second before he come into a massive cave; his pack's home. There she is. Storm's tail twitched with anticipation. He took a deep breath before padding up to the blue and white furred she-wolf.
"I would like to speak with you." He said, staring into her sky blue eyes awkwardly. She said nothing, but nodded her head. Storm turned and padded across the cave and up some stair-like stones up to a raised platform. There was an opening in the cave wall that was draped in lichen. Storm pushed through and the she-wolf followed. They padded into a small stone den. The ground was covered in moss.
"Welcome to my den," Storm said, sitting down and making himself comfortable. "Take a seat." The she-wolf dipped her head as a thanks, and settled onto her haunches. "So," Storm started awkwardly. "What is your name?" She she-wolf sighed. "Blizzard." She replied shortly. Storm was taken aback. Even her voice is beautiful!
"Umm, hi, Blizzard." Storm said, trying to hide the happiness in his voice. "So, why did you join us?" Blizzard looked at him with an expression Storm hadn't seen in a long time. Sadness. He concluded.
Blizzard looked down. "Have you ever heard of the Ice Pack?" Storm had to think for a moment. "Weren't they the ones who lived on The Endless Ice?" Blizzard nodded softly.
"That was my pack. When I was a pup, everyone except for my mom and I were killed." Storm's eyes grew wide. "How?" He asked, realising how stupid asking that was a little too late. Blizzard's eyes clouded with sadness.
"They... They...." Storm sighed, resting his paw on her's. "You don't have to tell me. I just wanted to know so I could help you." Blizzard looked up at him, quickly pulling her paw back.
Great job, Storm! You've really done it this time! Storm huffed to himself. Blizzard closed her eyes. "There was a blizzard the night I was born. Hence my name."
She continued, clear sadness in her voice. "My entire pack tried to stick together. But we were attacked. In our weakest moments. Attacked by other winged wolves." She explained.
Storm looked down. When I was young.... Didn't we?... He let out a quiet gasp and looked up at Blizzard. "Blizzard... Do you remember what the lead wolf looked like?"
Blizzard looked taken aback. "He was patch black... And the female he was with was pure white... Why?" Storm closed his eyes and sighed. "I'm so sorry."
Blizzard was clearly confused. "It's not like you could have done anything." Storm sighed. Now's not the time, fur-brain. Just play it cool. Once you know her better, then you can tell her.
"Y-you're right." He said. "I just felt bad. Sorry again." Storm looked down. "Thank you for your time, Blizzard. You may go."
