He had a tall build that was a bit lanky for someone of his height, and long, thin limbs.
Even though the structure of his face was strikingly similar to his father's, the huge smile that he was wearing made him look like a completely different person.
He put his hands on his hips when he saw his kids.
"Well, it's a good thing you two are up so early. Can't sleep in for the big day today" he said.
He then noticed (y/n) with the massive cardboard box in her rather tiny hands.
He walked over to her.
"Here, let me get that for you, darling" he was saying, reaching towards the box.
However, (y/n) pulled it out of his reach.
"I've got it, Nat, just go take care of the kids" she insisted.
He raised an eyebrow at her, before turning around towards Aris and Athena, who were still sitting together in Athena's bed.
"We've got a long drive ahead of us, so make sure you use the bathroom before we leave" he said. "And we'll be stopping for breakfast on the road because your mother nearly set the entire kitchen on fire trying to cook it."
(y/n) sighed in exasperation.
"It was just one flame on the stove!" she exclaimed. "I put it out before it could do any real damage."
"You tried to put out a fire with a heat ray" Nathaniel said, gesturing towards her ash-covered body.
"Okay, so I accidentally pulled out the wrong gun. It's a common mistake!" (y/n) insisted. "But I put it out with the freeze ray after that."
Nathaniel sighed.
"It's a miracle this house is still standing with you living under its roof."
"Well then it's a good thing that you were living under it too" (y/n) replied back.
Nathaniel walked even closer to his wife until his face was only inches away from hers.
"To save you from your own destruction?"
"No. To clean up the mess afterwards, you waste-shoveling idiot."
And with that, their lips met in a loving kiss.
(y/n) closed her eyes as she took it in, but when they finally parted and she opened them again, she found that Nathaniel was holding the box that had been in her hands a few seconds ago.
He was shooting her a mischievous smirk.
"Thanks for the box, (y/n) darling!" he called.
(y/n)'s eyes narrowed.
"Get back here, you little..."
And with that, he hurried out the door before she could take the box back.
She crossed her arms huffingly over her chest, though it didn't take long for the small smile to worm its way onto her face, melting her irritation away.
After all, he was just trying to help, in his own special way.
Both Aris and Athena were still confused.
"Big day? Long trip ahead of us? What's going on?" Aris asked.
"Yeah, and what's with all the boxes?" Athena questioned. "Are we all going somewhere?"
(y/n) shot them both a look of disbelief, before it was replaced with a teasing smile.
"Oh I get it, you're messing with me" she said. "Well you're four months late for April Fool's Day, kids."
Her smile melted away when she saw that both of her kids still looked as confused as before.
"You kids really forgot?"
"Forgot what?" the twins asked simultaneously.
(y/n) rolled her eyes and grinned at them.
"Your father got a job promotion out of town!" she said, as if she had repeated the fact before thousands of times.
"We're moving!"
Aris and Athena's eyes both widened.
"Moving? To where?"
(y/n) smiled.
"Gravity Falls."
