I felt I was entitled
To wish for anything
My heart desired

Even though I was fully aware
That it was nothing but
A wish for the moon
And though I knew
That I would end up hurt,
I let my heart feel what it did for you
Even though I wished
That I would regret falling for you
I'm glad I let myself
Know what it was like
To be in love
It hurt because it was with someone
I couldn't have
It hurt because it was nothing but
A wish for the moon
Then I made a new wish
That you'd be happy
With the one you love
And I'd find love that's beautiful
Love that comes naturally
And doesn't cause me any heartache.
