Today was her first day on the job. She made sure to be extra prepared the night before by setting five different alarms. She was not going to mess up an opportunity like this. Sophia was a young spunky girl about the age of twenty. She was strong, determined, and very much into film. So much so that she chose to study that at university. She went to school in the states but always had a craving to be abroad. Through a couple of familial connections she met a successful director in London and charmed him into giving her an assistant's job on his next movie which subsequently happened to be filming during her summer break. It worked out perfectly and she was so grateful to be given this opportunity. As she arrived on set she got a little nervous until she saw him and felt relaxed. "Hey Mr. Crawley" she said to the man who had gotten her the job, sitting in his official director's chair ready to start filming. "Hi there Sophia and please, everyone goes by first names on set, call me Sam" he answered warmly and handed her a clipboard with an extensive list of things to do. She immediately took it and looked it up and down... all three pages chocked full of complicated tasks that she was ready to tackle. "About these tasks..." she began but was swiftly cut off by Sam. "Don't worry too much about those it's a list for the week. First I want you to take this lunch to dressing room twenty three and you'll find your assigned actor there. You'll be working with them for the remainder of the film but once a week you'll report back to the production manager for another list of tasks. It's ok all the assistants get them. You're going to do amazing don't worry. I hope you like who i assigned to you. I feel like you could use this opportunity to learn a bit from them." Sam finished and shooed her off for the day with a "Good luck love, you'll fit right in". She started with reading the list as she made her way to the trailers where the actors were hanging out before the long day of filming began. Sam had told her previously that it was a very secretive movie so she did not know anyone in the cast or even what the plot of the movie was on but she didn't care she was just happy to be there. She finally reached the trailer. It was basically a refurbished motorhome with light stained wood and white trim. The number twenty three was painted on the door and the actor's name was written on a piece of paper under it: Tom.
"Huh" she said to herself as she read the paper and knocked on the door timidly.
"Come in" a muffled voice came from inside and she carefully latched the door open as the stairs to the trailer fell out before her and she climbed up into the room. She carefully closed to the door behind her and looked around her at the seemingly empty trailer. She placed down the actor's lunch on what looked to be the "living room" table in front of the couch. She went ot leave and then remembered that she was assigned to him so she should probabaly stay and get his list of tasks. She guessed that he, this Tom person, must have been in the back by the bed getting dressed but she decided it was smart to make her presence known regardless.
"Um hi I'm Sophia your new assistant. Sam assigned me to you and had me bring you your lunch. If you have a list of things for me to do I'd be more than happy to get started on thwt. Also they need you in about an hour on set." She called to the back of the trailer hoping he'd hear her. Then suddenly the man emerged from the back of the trailer and she turned to see him standibg there in a white tee shirt and jeans a silver necklace swinging on his torso as he maneuvered around the trailer fastening his watch onto his wrist. What she saw when he lifted his head to look at her made her heart drop and she heard an audible crash which made her jump. He rushed toward her and picked up her clipboard which she hadn't even realized had slipped out of her hands in her shock. As he stood back up and handed it to her a million thoughts flooded her mind. When she took the clipboard back she looked into his dark brown eyes and he gazed back into hers. For a couple seconds they just stood there looking into each other's eyes and she realized that he was standing so close to her that she could smell his cologne.
"Nice to meet you Sophia. I'm Tom" he responded and stepped back a little bit to offer his hand which she took and shook firmly.
"I don't have a list of tasks for you is it okay if I just give them to you throughout the day?" he continued to which she nodded. She felt as if she was in a daze. "Are you okay love?" Tom continued and brought a hand up to her forehead "You look a little pale" he looked at her with concern in his voice as he felt her forehead and cheek for a fever. His touch sent sparks throughout her body and she immediately snapped out of it.
"Oh I'm fine thank you, just a little overwhelmed and lightheaded but I'll be fine" she said as she started to back away from him.
"I should leave you to get ready for filming, makeup and hair should be here any minute" she said and she quickly exited the trailer and walked a little ways away to a spot outside the prop trailer where she could get herself together.
