Sun spots

The satin sheets crinkled beneath my body as I stretched, the sunlight pouring in between each crack the curtain gave. In the summer, the window stays open just a crack to let the warm morning air come in. My stretches didn't last long as two arms sleepily wrapped around my waist and plants a face into my body. A small yawn against my warm skin makes me smile as I shift to look at the body attached to such a precious noise.

"Good morning" I whisper, smile etching even larger on my face.

"Mhm" he mumbles. Eyes still screwed shut, denying the morning for seconds longer.

The morning breeze rolls in, causing the curtains to fold open and a sun spot to land right onto his face. His brows furrow in annoyance as the sun calls for the day to begin.

"Any chance we can turn the sun off?" he asks, burying his face impossibly deeper into my stomach. Before I get to answer, my stomach growls right into his ear.

"I'll take that as a no" he says, releasing my waist and rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

With a heavy sigh, he tosses the blankets to the side to get out of the bed. As he shuffles to the bathroom, my breakfast plan sets in place. My bare feet padding against the wooden floor is the only sound heard besides the bathroom door closing as I collect the pancake batter from the top of the fridge. Mixing the ingredients and starting the stove, the food takes nearly no time to prepare. The first batch begins to cook as the same arms wrap around my waist once more. A head rests on my shoulder as I lean in to the embrace.

"That's my shirt" he grumbles, voice not quite ready for speaking yet.

"Not anymore" I reply cheekily, flipping the pancakes and paying no mind to the boy behind me.

He swiftly grabs my middle and places me on the empty counter next to the stove.

"Give it back" he says with determination in his eyes. I shake my head no, hiding the smirk as best I can by holding my lip between my teeth.

"Guess I'll have to take it myself" he says, collecting me off the counter and tossing me onto the bed. Despite my not-so-great attempts at keeping him away, the shirt is stolen right off of me.

"You look cuter this way" he winks, leaving me on the bed to tend to the long forgotten pancakes.

"Well this is no way to treat someone on their birthday" I huff grumpily, hoping to gain some attention. He brings me a plate of fresh pancakes and kisses me gently.

"Too bad your birthday isn't until tomorrow" he counters, seeing right through my lie. I decide to stop arguing and enjoy the yummy breakfast food, eyeing the sunspots on the man in front of me.

The morning was as perfect as it could get.
