Guides and Practices

Start from the beginning

When a knock falls upon my door my heart leaps. I feel my cheeks warm up and I sort of speed walk to the door.

“Hey.” I say as I open the door.

“Hey.” Josh says a big smile on his face.

“We ready?” I ask a smile on my face.

“Of course.” Josh says with a smile. I smile in return and he takes my hand in his and we walk off to a restaurant that I don’t know which one. He never said but I think he knows what he is doing.

Turns out we were going to a restaurant I’ve never heard of. But Josh has been here and if he likes it I will as well (I hope).

We walked inside and sat down at a table for two. A waitress came and handed us both a menu. I took it and said thank you.

Our waitress was a female. She looked about eighteen but could be seventeen as well. She had a blue waterfall of curls and matching blue eyes. She seemed pretty but I disapprove of the hair dying.

“What are you getting?” Josh asks looking at me from above his menu. I laugh and look over the menu again.

“What do you suggest?” I ask. I was looking over my menu now and I was admiring Josh’s hazel eyes. They were dark green on the outside, lighter on the inner rim, and then a brown around his black pupil. I smile as he thinks.

“How about a pizza?” He asks. I laugh. “No?” He questions. I laugh again.

“Well what do you want?” He questions.

After supper Josh and I didn’t want to go separate ways so we sat outside watching the clouds.

“That one looks like a bunny.” I say pointing up at a cloud. It was six thirty seven so I have twenty three minutes before I had to be at the park with Kyan. I was planning on leaving at seven fifty.

I took out my phone and crossed out the second thing. Three more left. I tell myself in my head. Then my free day is over and my plans were achieved.

Now it was time to go. I hugged Josh goodbye and kissed his cheek. Then I headed toward the park. Kyan should be there any minute and I didn’t want to be late.

I got there and saw Kyan sitting on the grass. I snuck up behind him and wrapped my arms around him. Hugging him. My upper arms rested on his shoulder blades and my arms around his chest. I kissed his cheek and sat there like that for a while.

“Long time no see.” Kyan jokes sounding some what serious.

“Well you are early last time I checked.” I say and sit beside him.” I look at the sky. It is getting dimmer but not very fast. “When does the sun set anyways.”

“I think eight o’seven. Around there anyways. But we can chill.” I laugh.

“And what do you mean by chill?” I ask. He giggles now and goes silent. We both do. We just sit there and looks at the view.

“I just mean sit here and look around. Maybe talk.” He says. He turned to look at me and placed his hand atop of mine. I looked at it then back up to him. His eyes sparkled. I know mine did as well. I blush and look away.

“What about?” I ask.

“You, me, us.” Kyan says a smile in his eyes. I know he is telling the truth.

“What’s your future? Am I in it?” I ask. Things became soft and I lowered my voice too be just above a whisper.

“Well it starts with a ring, then a yes, then a wedding. Next comes kids and we live happily ever after. But the future I see can always be rewritten.” I smile and hug Kyan. I let my tears fall on his shirt. I don’t care. I cry tears of joy and tears of sadness. I don’t know if it will change. But part of me doesn't want it to. “Alex please don’t cry.”
