"Where are you going?"

I tear my gaze away from the window, where snow was heaped upon a small white picket fence and a slight frost covered the dying plants, and looked at my mother. Though I loved her, for everything she'd done for me, especially with my father being absent from our lives, she'd been more cautious as of the late and was beginning to get annoyingly clingy.

"Lyra and the guys wanted to meet up at the usual spot,"

I say, rolling my eyes and smiling. She walks into the living room with a towel in her hands and tosses it onto the dining room table. She places a hand on her hip and raises an eyebrow.

"Your wand, Al." She says as she stretches a hand towards me.

"What? Why? I won't use it. It's just for... safety." I replied, refusing to give it her. She'd gotten the wand for me a year ago due to the increasing numbers of death eaters terrorizing people even though I wasn't supposed to own one until I began school.

She doesn't seem convinced but I still wrap my hands around it as if it were a life or death situation. Smiling, she instead walks closer to me and wraps me in a tight hug.

"Just promise me you won't use it unless absolutely necessary." She says sighing in defeat.

"I promise," I say grinning at her.

"Be safe then." She quietly says as she kisses my head and walks to the kitchen once again to start the dishes.

Grabbing a winter coat and boots I rush outside, running over the snow-muffled cobbles and frostbitten grass until I see the faint silhouettes of my friends. Upon getting closer look I notice my group of friends where discreetly divided. Two of the boys were play fighting in the overgrown grass while a olive skinned boy cheered them on and a girl sat silently off to the side reading a book under the willow tree.

"Hey, Guys!" I say approaching the boys , after getting a little bit closer.

"Hey, Ali." Lyra says warmly looking up from the novel and pats the ground next to her, indicating for me to sit down beside her.

"Hey, little sister," I say smiling gently and join her on the ground.

After a few moments, I peer at the boys noticing Rosario's distant look and the small frown etched onto his face. Nudging Lyra, I direct her attention towards the sullen looking boy. Seeing his depressive state, Lyra crawls her way over to Rosario and sits herself down next to him.

"What's wrong Rose?" She asks with a worried expression on her pale face.

Rosario sighs, "Chris and I were invited to Hogwarts, but our fathers say we have to go to Drumstang, even though we were hoping to spend this school year with you guys." Rosario says while beginning to carve something into the tree.

"Don't feel bad Rose. I'm sure everything will work out." She says hugging Rosario while his face turns a bright red hue, lifting his mood in the process.

Lyra then stares at me excitedly "So what schools were you invited to this year?" She asks grinning widely at me.

Remembering the disappointing news I received earlier that day, I explain dejectedly, "Well... I didn't really get invited to any this year. I've been assigned to The Reform School of Magic, sadly."

"Why were you assigned to that god awful place?" Chrys asks while halting his brawl with Draco.

"That doesn't matter...let's talk about it later..."

All of us talked for hours until the sky darkened and everyone had to go home.

I race home quickly before my mother began to look for me. As I walked into my house a heavy metallic smell drifts to my  nose while the door lays on the ground, appeared to have been ripped off its hinges.

"Mum! Are you in here?!" I yell into the seemingly empty house, holding up my wand in case of an attacker still in the house.

Walking down the hallway I notice a trail of blood staining the wooden floor and a few handprints smeared across the white walls. Walking slowly towards the kitchen I see a body slumped over against the wall with a black tattoo adorning their wrist and blood running down their chin.

Stepping over the body, my hands tremble, gripping my wand tightly.

Glancing around the kitchen my eyes finally land on the pale body of my
mother. Running over to her body I notice her bloodshot eyes and a black substance trailing down from the corner of her mouth.

"Mum...Mum, come on. Get up!" I cry out, hoping she'd look back at me and tell me how much she loved me and how everything was going to be alright.

Hearing heavy footsteps behind me, I sharply turn around seeing a man wearing dark robes with the same tattoo as the dead person in the kitchen.

"W-who are you?" I nervously say as I catch the sight of a red liquid adorning the strange man's lips. He approaches me, silently, grinning maliciously at me. Then he suddenly is right in front of me grabbing my hair while tugging my head up, exposing my bare neck.

"...because your mother murdered my partner, I thought I should leave you with a small gift, to show my thanks." He says softly. He then sinks his teeth into my neck. With tears streaming down my face I let out a inhuman scream, leaving my throat raw. When the man seems satisfied he throws me against the wall and everything becomes dark.

I sit bolt upright in bed, arms wrapped around my body as I shake in fear of the horrible memories that resurfaced,

It's been five years since my mother's death and this year I decided to leave The Reform School of Magic and try for Hogwarts again. I've been living with my dog, Kara, in an abandoned apartment for the past few months,
so I wasn't exactly positive if I wanted to go but, when my father contacted me after all of these years I decided that I needed to see Draco and Lyra again to tell them everything that has happened in the past few years.

Looking around the broken-down apartment I sigh in disappointment. Kara trots up to me laying her head down in my lap, noticing my distress.

"It's ok girl. We're going to get out of here. Just you wait." I say scratching her under her chin. Then I hear the breaking of glass as the window falls
in, bringing something with it.
