"Let's find out."
The three of them started to walk towards the area where the noise had come from. As they got closer, they caught sight of a tall shadow making its way towards them.
Cautiously, the agents all held up their guns, aiming them right at the newcomer, until the person finally came into view.
It was just another time agent.
The leader of the group walked up to the agent.
"Did you find the kids?" he asked with a gruff voice.
The agent aimed his laser gun at the man.
"Yes."
He fired a beam directly into the man's chest. Before the first man had even fallen to the floor, the agent turned and fired two more beams at the other two men, both of them hitting their mark.
It was only a matter of seconds before all three of the men in that group were on the ground.
The agent lifted his mask, revealing Athena inside.
She took in a deep breath, grateful that the mask was thick enough to disguise her voice while at the same time despising how suffocating it felt over her face, before she shoved the mask back over her head.
Just then, three more agents appeared after hearing the noise, all of them shocked at all the bodies lying on the ground.
"One of the kids stole a suit and impersonated an agent!" Athena said to them, her voice laced with distress. "He could be anyone."
The agents huddled even closer together in response to receiving the new information, until one of them stepped forward, apparently trying to take the lead.
"Let's split up, that way we can find the imposter faster" he said.
Athena couldn't help but smirk underneath the mask. This man was an idiot.
The man continued.
"Rogers, go with him and check the right side" he commanded, gesturing towards Athena. "Duke and I will take the left."
As Duke and the lead agent started to walk away together, Athena patted him on the back.
"Good luck, Chief" she said, as he and his partner walked out of their view.
The lead agent and Duke were walking cautiously around the left side of the basement.
"How do we know who the imposter is?" Duke asked.
"I'm not sure" the lead agent replied. "For all I know, it could be you."
Out of the corner of his eye, Duke noticed something flashing on the lead agent's back.
"Hey, what's that on your back?" he asked.
"What?"
The lead agent turned his neck to see what Duke was talking about, only to find a small metal device that was flashing extremely rapidly.
Suddenly, the plasma bomb went off, sending out a wave of energy within a one yard radius. Caught in the explosion, the lead agent and Duke both collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Athena and Rogers spun around just in time to see the plasma explosion die down.
"The imposter!" Athena exclaimed.
She and Rogers both took off sprinting towards the area where the explosion had occurred, only to find the bodies of the agents whom they had just parted from lying on the ground.
Rogers bent down towards the agents.
"The imposter was here."
With his back now turned towards her, Athena shot him from behind, and he fell onto the ground next to his fallen comrades as well, out cold.
"Yes, she was."
Aris was just screwing in the last bolt in the machine, when Athena entered his hiding place behind the wall, pulling off the disguise.
"As always, your timing is perfect" Aris said proudly, as he held up the invention. "I just finished building this thing. And I'm pretty sure that it won't explode this time."
"Excellent" Athena replied with a grin on her face, as she bent down onto her knees next to him.
Aris turned several dials and flipped multiple switches on the device before finally pressing the activation button.
Instantly, a countdown appeared on the tiny screen.
2:00...1:59...1:58...
"How many agents did you take out?" Aris asked.
"All of them. They're idiots, the whole lot of them."
Aris grinned proudly.
"That's awesome!" he exclaimed excitedly. "Even Blendin?"
Athena's smile vanished.
"No, she forgot all about me" said a new voice. "But who can remember someone as insignificant as me, huh?"
The twins froze, before slowly turning around to see who had spoken.
Standing there was none other than Blendin Blandin, and he had a laser gun aimed right at them.
