Let Me Go (Romanogers Fanfic)

~Prologue~

As you faded into nothing, he let out a heartwrenching cry and rushed by your side, his knees skidding across the jagged rock at the bottom of the cliff. 

He cradled your icy hand with his calloused ones and called your name, over and over again, till the overwhelming rush of pain buried him in a coffin of pain. Your weak hand softly grabbed his as you rubbed your thumb over the back of his hand. Those hands that you loved to grab while you snuck behind him. 

He knelt there, silent tears crowding his eyes, and as he blinked, a single tear fell, landing on your forehead. Slowly, you put your free hand to his scarred face. Dragging your thumb across his wet cheek, and gave him a mellow smile.

You could feel yourself slowly slipping away, but you weren't ready. Not yet. Not before you said goodbye. But you didn't get the chance. No, you could feel the searing pain spreading through your scarred frame.

As you weakly rolled over, he put your head in his lap as he cradled your frail body. Chanting over and over again, come back, come back, no, no, no, no, it can't end like this. Please don't leave me... I love you.

"I wish there was a way to bring her back. I have to get her back," he sobs, tears falling endlessly.

He suddenly shot up. "I got an idea."
