The Marisa Problem

Start from the beginning

Why cheerleading you may ask?

People always asked me this since I'm probably the nicest cheerleader in the school.

Next to Marisa ofcourse.

But since Josh sometimes scared people off, people started to wonder if she was as much of a jerk as he was.

Marisa only really wanted to do cheerleading because she wanted to be popular.

That was in middle school.

Marisa loved cheerleading at first but soon got bored with it.

Now she only does it for the 'street cred', as she calls it.

I loved cheerleading, I was forced to do it at first and didn't think it was for me...

But now, I realised how much of an underestemated sport it is.

It was physically demanding and emotionally taxing.

But I loved lifting peoples spirits.

Cheerleaders, thankfully, got to do that a lot.

They also got to run around doing routines with loads of flips and splits.

I generally liked sports and as I did gymnastics before this, I had experience with some of the stuff we did.

I love challenging myself to do better, which was why I made the perfect captain.

I shrugged myself out of my wandering thoughts and walked into the school gym.

After cheer practice I headed to my car and drove home.

I was opened my door and walked inside.

If Marisa and I were still talking to each other, she would be in my car and we would go by her.

I admit it, I missed her, I missed talking and laughing with her.

She was my best friend.

But at least I had Derek...

I was still confused as to what to call our real relationship.

Were we friends?

Or something else?

I headed to the kitchen when my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey christie, it's josh,"

That explains why the call was blocked.

I was about to hang up on him when he spoke again, "Wait, before you do anything, you should know that Marisa told me that she thinks that you and Derek are fake dating,"

I froze.

How could I forget how effective an angry Marisa can be?

I wonder how many people she told.

"She's just upset that her best friend and her brother are dating, that's all,"

"Really? Well I think she's right, I believe that you and Derek are not really dating," Josh said.

"Why would you believe that?"

"Because your in to me," He said.

I nearly threw up.

Seriously? How much of an ego does this boy have?

I hung up on him and called Derek before Josh could call back.
