well basically there was this shining light

and out of it came the first citizens of the merry republic

at the beginning there were only two

they built the city of the republic out of the light itself

and as they toiled other citizens sprang from the ground, some helped, some hindered, but all were merry

then one day came the endarkening

a massive riot swept the city

hundreds of citizens were culled

but for each killed sprang two more, both slightly different than before

the city was burned to the ground and the republic was broken

then the massive overpopulation of merrys caused what was known as the great plague

many of the citizens died off in this, and stayed dead

the survivors split into three factions, the new republic, the imperium, and the triumvirate

leaving the cursed ground of the original republic behind

at first there was peace among the factions

but then there came the people of jesus, come to bring war and evil to the land

they invaded the lands of the imperium, fighting tooth and claw and can with the soldiers of the unholy emperor

had the factions stood together they would have repelled the jesusians easily

but the new republic and the triumvirate left the imperium to its fate, not knowing the fate this would bring them

seeing their former allies leave them to die, the imperials hatred for their brethren grew

and they not only surrendered to the jesusilites, but joined them, worshipping their non-pagan god as their own

the imperials joined the jesusinites in their unholy crusade against the merry lands

first they attacked the lands of the triumvirate hoping to once again split the factions and turn them against eachother

but this time the citizens of the new republic stood and fought alongside the citizens of the triumvarate

many merrymen were slain, but the battle went on

every step forward for either side was followed by a step back

it seemed the war might never end, but surely, something, must end the stalemate

the last of the triumvirate, merrycan, had watched too many of his fellows, even his brother, merrycan, fall

and so in one last act of desperation, he prayed to an aline god, the yeet god himself he offered up his own life, and by this the independence of the triumvirate from the new republic as payment

it is told that the yeet god looked upon him, and yeeted away his soul

suddenly the jesusulinians all had a vision of the yeet god, and their heretical hearts were struck with divine fear

they ran from the battlefield, as the cowards they were

finally the republic began to gain ground

but still the imperials fought on

not remembering why

only that they must fight

finally they were pushed back to the fortress of heads deep, to make their final stand
