Love Bites(Vampire 5sos)

Prologue

*Jessica's POV*

"I dont think its possible, Jess" Johnny said.

"I don't care, I am going whether you're coming with me or not. you're my brother, not my mom." I snapped. He sighed and ran his hands through his hair.

"Why is this so important to you?" He asked, exasperated.

"You know why, I've wanted to be a writer since i was in third grade. this could be my big chance." I pleaded. he shook his head. "its what mom would have wanted, me to follow my dream!" the words escaping my mouth cause my chest to ache. My parents were in a plane accident ten months ago, no one survived. since then, johnny has been my sister, janie, and i's legal guardian.

"jessica, listen to me, you are sixteen years old. this publishing company has only read one entry from that competition last month. the chance of them not liking you are way to high to move all the way to california!" he yelled, causing me to flinch. he quickly muttered a "sorry"

"please." was all i could say.

"the answer is no jessica. we are not moving to california, we dont have the money to buy a new house, and the shcool year just started for you and janie."

"fine! but i just want you to know, you are ruining my dream!" i said, tearing up. i ran up to my room and locked the door. i collapsed onto my bed, crying into my pillow.

i heard faint knocking,"go away johnny, i dont want to talk to you." i yelled, although it was muffled by my pillow.

"jess, its me." janie faintly said. i quickly got up and opened the door, revealing a brown haired thirteen year old.

"hey, whats up?" i said, trying to mask the fact that i had been crying. she walked passed me into my room and closed the door.

"i heard what you and johnny were talking about." i just sighed. "and i think that you should go, but we cant all go, only you." she looked me in the eyes.

"what?" i asked, i mean, i am only sixteen, i cant move across the country by myself, can i?

"im saying i will give you the money that mom gave me before the accident, to keep for when we move because of your writing. she was already expecting you to get an oppurtunity like this. i am also saying that i will handle johnny after you leave."

"so what, im supposed to like, run away to california?"

"exactly. and you are running tomorrow night. so get ready." she said, getting up and starting to walk out of the room.

"wait, is this a joke. you cant be serious." i started to chuckle. but the look on her face showed no sign of humor.

"wow, so this is happening. tomorrow? okay, i can do it." i said more to myself than to janie.

"all you need to do is pack as many clothes as you can. i will help you leave by midnight, when johnnys asleep." i only nodded. i hugged her and she left my room, probably to plan my great escape.

i lied down on my bed, replaying the last few minutes in my head. was this really happening, was i really going to run away tomorrow with the help of my thirteen year old sister? i must have fallen asleep because the next thing i knew, it was six hours later.

i, despite the time-12:38-,decided to write. i have been working on a book for over a year and i am almost finished. it is a cutsie love story about a girl who loves to sing who meets a boy and falls in love-of course- and after facing challenges, they end up together. happy endings all around!

i eventually fell asleep again and was woken up by my very loud alarm. i got up and went to school, but hardly payed attention. i was far to excited about my 'escape' tonight.

that night, at midnight sharp, janie came into my room, handed me the money our mom gave her, hugged me goodbye, and turned off our alarm system.

"write to me, text me, call me, i dont care, just make sure you tell me as soon as you get to the hotel, i made a reservation for you, and i found you a car for when you get there." she told me as i walked out the door.

"thank you. i love you." i hugged her one last time.

"i love you too." she whispered in my ear. i was supposed to walk to the other side of town to the only bus stop there was within a five mile radius. but, i decided to, instead of walking along the streets, take a short cut through the nearby woods. i was humming to myself when i heard footsteps behind me, but when i turned aroung, nothing. i just shrugged it off and continued humming.

i saw a bright flash in front of me, creating a gust of wind. i was knocked to the ground as another flash went by. the last thing i saw before something knocked me out was a pair of red eyes that changed to green.

"sleep" i heard, and instantly blacked out.
